Couldn't pass this one up, after a tip from @BobHufford. I love light colored hats.

Light Gray Stetson Royal Delux St. Regis Homburg. Pretty much the same color as my recently manufactured Stetsonian. A beautiful felt and this one came to me looking pretty unworn. Probably early 50s/late 40s.

Six inch OC, no liner protection over the embroidered liner tip. Pristine sweat. Stars/stars. This is an ideal Homburg for me, in both style and color. It even has a touch of D'Orsay curl to it. Needless to say, I was stoked to get this.

That's a wonderful catch, Jim. The Stetson St. Regis hats go for quite a bundle on Ebay as far as I can tell. Ver cool lighter coloured you've found. Congrats!

Gimbel homburg in blue. Size 56 with the brim at 5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Unreeded sweatband and a gloriously coloured liner (it's what sold it to me). There might be some wool content in the felt and it has that nice old-time feel. In great shape with just some loose stitches on the sweat. Couldn't find anything on the brand.

I had thought it might be a house brand for Gimbel's Department Store, but the 1865 date doesn't jibe with the history of Gimbel's.

I thought the same, but like you found the dates don't match. A family member maybe (Stephen L Gimbel )?

Coincidentally, the brim binding is a very similar colour to the Borsalino Lobia (Sider) I wore today. This photo is from last year.
Daniele had Fleur re-do the binding.

If I HAVE to shelter in place, it is a great time to renew my membership in the Nation with two new ones at my mailbox this morning. First, a new/old mid-gray tone-on-tone Knox Superfine. The second is a new custom charcoal and smoke from Northwest hats. Two-hat days are great, are they not!!!
