I am being offered this brown Disney Fifteen for $100. I don’t have any experience with Disney so I’m asking y’all. I think it 1950s? Good price?

I thought the later hats were “Mr. Disney?” Maybe some time spent in the Disney Diner would answer the vintage question? I’m still waiting for a Disney in my size to make an appearance at a reasonable price...it might be a long wait. I’ve heard great things about them.

I agree with Stefan, Joe. That is a nice solid looking Homburg. The fact that it looks good with or without pinches is a plus as to wear wise. The inside labels suggest to me that this is not a particularly "old" hat. 10 to max 20 years I'd say. Maybe others can place it better.
No matter its age, it is a nice looking Homburg. Most importantly of all, it looks good on you.

I agree with Stefan, Joe. That is a nice solid looking Homburg. The fact that it looks good with or without pinches is a plus as to wear wise. The inside labels suggest to me that this is not a particularly "old" hat. 10 to max 20 years I'd say. Maybe others can place it better.
No matter its age, it is a nice looking Homburg. Most importantly of all, it looks good on you.

I agree age is not all that important when you like the way it looks on ya. But it’s still fun to speculate on the history.

I found very little info regarding this brand Lord Kent except that they made hats, shoes and other items under this name. I believe their parent company had a ruling against them by the FTC in 1940 over some of their business practices like labeling shoes “custom made” when they were machine made... and indicating a retail price point such as $12.00 when they sold for much less. Interestingly this hat uses that “custom made” terminology which they were barred from doing after 1940 and called it Beaver 15. Can not find really any mention of them after that point.

Now I don’t think this hat looks anywhere near 40’s. I thought the tag looked later 60s... but I’m certainly no expert. Another clue could be Beaver 15. If it were in fact to mean it was a beaver or beaver blend with a retail price of $15 that could help narrow down.... or it could just be a name that meant nothing. The store flyer for Joes Hat Corner that was tucked into the sweatband... From what I saw Joes hat corner was located in the Americus Hotel in PA from the 1920’s to sometime around the 1980’s... and of course someone could have put that in there at any time.

So... taking all that ‘evidence’ into account... I’m gonna go with...

it’s a nice hat.. and it fits me well.. and looks darn good [emoji16]

My Exmoor was bought from Broadstreets. I love my Disney. The only thing that bothers me about this one is the apparent taper the crown shows from the side shots you posted... but you could have it reblocked to get rid of taper.... up to you, and I'm probably in the minority, but I'd pass just because of the taper. I like my hats blocky.

Time to get the Homburg nation back on top again. And what better way to do than with a hat like this.
Knox Superfine in dark blue. Size 7 with the brim at 6cm and the crown 11,5cm at the center dent. Very sleek looking hat even if it's proportions are impressive. Fits me like a dream. I have Brent to thank for this one; seems like he has found a Knox mine somewhere. No label under the sweat. Early fifties maybe?

Wegener Colonel in grey. Size 59 with the brim at a good 5cm and the crown 11cm at the center dent. Some slight discoloration on the ribbon, but other than that in great shape. It seemed to like these old-fashioned side dents, so who am I to argue?

Mayser "Spezial", 61 cm, possibly early 1950s. The dark blue felt is fantastic (color, finish) and easily dry creases. As usual great dressing work (ribbon/bow, sweatband, liner) It's also in NOS condition so probably rarely if ever worn.

It's a wonder to behold, Steve. There's something special about hats in different shades of dark blue, especially Homburgs. The colour just seems to enhance the overall look of a Homburg in my opinion.

One more then.
Wegener in dark blue. Size 60 with the brim at 6,5cm and the crown 11,5cm at the center dent. Quite the hat. Lovely hand to the felt and shapes nicely. No label inside the hat (aside from a very small size tag), but Alfred Bender from Frankfurt am Main apparently was founded in 1880, so that would place this hat in 1955. Sounds about right to me.
