I did not expect to find this in a vintage clothing store in Holland, but there you go. I stumbled upon this Cavanagh homburg in a size 7 1/2 in blue. Brim at 5,5cm and crown at 10,5cm at the center dent. Colour is called Midnite, which is a very dark blue (I thank the lucky stars I have one myself, otherwise I would have been grumpy until next week). It dates from the late sixties to mid-seventies I think (found a DDR-era newspaper inside it dating from 1976, but probably not from the original owner). I should have brought the newspaper too I think, but I left that behind in the shop. It's in wonderful condition except for the backseam of the sweatband, which was torn at some point (probably by the east-German fellow who stuffed all those newspapers behind the sweat).
I like it! The color is superb! The best of the rest is this is exact size of mine....

Holy mackerel, another gorgeous blue hat! And in my size, too....

Thank you, gentlemen. No fighting please. There are several members in line for this one actually, so there's going to be some disappointment somewhere I'm afraid.:(
Oh my goodness, Stefan. Some great hats you've picked up. Congrats. I'm afraid though, I'm going to be one of the disappionted. I'm too wound up in watching the twists and turns of the Brexit debacle. I feel I should walk away from that nonsense and concentrate my mind on winning one of your great finds.

Stefan, if only you'd taken the newspaper with you, too. Two pieces of history in one.

Borsalino lobbia, Gulaela model, in the colour Rutenio. From the pictures I had expected it to be bismuto or opale, but this was a nice surprise, because I didn't have one in this colour yet. Brim at 6cm and crown 11cm at the center dent.

Picked this one up from Stefan. He was kind enough to let it go, though it pained him to do so.
A high crown, wonderful colour and finish. Fits like a glove.
Not a name I've come across before, but so glad it's now a part of my collection and in the fancy hat rotation [emoji4]
The outside photos are Stefans, hence the colour difference of me inside with the hat on under artificial light.

Mayser "Spezial", 58 cm, probably later 1930s. It's rare to come across a 1930s or older Mayser. The felt and form on this hat are fantastic.

I was able to verify that this store location did not survive WWII. The hat characteristics and paper label format will help in Mayser dating efforts.

Super find, Steve. I can almost feel the quality of the felt through those photos. Great ribbon size and wonderful shape of the bow.
