It’s not an Open Road, post Philly made in the 70’s or thereabouts.
Oh, okay thanks. Just getting the hang of these forums. There's a whole thread dedicated to Disney hats. You can find it here:

The hat looks like a Disney version of the Gay Prince that was made by Dobbs. These questions are better asked in the "ask a question" thread by the way.
I have this hat, says Sunlan inside and know nothing about this hat company at all. It's similar in style to the Tijuana Stetson that you all helped me with, thank you again by the way. This hat also belonged to my Great-Uncle and has been stored in the original box. View attachment 417315 View attachment 417316 View attachment 417317 View attachment 417318 View attachment 417319

Fantastic! Thank you!I've seen some Boaters and Derby hats, but not many soft felt hats.
They trademarked the name in 1921.

The only thing marked Disney is the box. What makes you think this is a Disney hat?
I assumed, based on the box it has been stored in and because there is a marking on the leather sweatband that says "Robin Hood"The only thing marked Disney is the box. What makes you think this is a Disney hat?

Rockwater’s hat is clearly marked Disney. Strange that you this “Robin Hood” doesn’t have Disney debossing. Maybe it just doesn’t show up? Rockwater’s hat is also a sort of Strat clone and not a Gay Prince…I know models evolved over time, but could it be that the “Robin Hood” name was used by more than one hat company? Granted, the “Robin Hood” marking does look very similar.
I’m way out of my depth and just wondering out loud.
Font is completely differant.....hard to say. I have personally found many hats in hatboxes of a differant brand.....

We ALL do at one time or other.................... Hey look....... there is Trigger!!!!I got out over my skis a bit on that one. I have no idea.
If that's not a definition of serendipity Mark, I don't know what is.We ALL do at one time or other.................... Hey look....... there is Trigger!!!!
As an aside, about the hat in a hat box thing.... I had a strange day a couple of years ago, where I indeed DID find a marked Disney hat...but in a Borsalino box....THEN...later that same day....at a different place I found a Borsalino....in....yep...a Disney Box!
What are the odds of that?!?!?!?!?!?
Yep.......bought them both (for trade bait as one was 7 1/8 and the other a 7 1/4).If that's not a definition of serendipity Mark, I don't know what is.
Hope you bought them both and put them in their rightful boxes.
Of course you did, Mark. Who could walk away from those two?Yep.......bought them both (for trade bait as one was 7 1/8 and the other a 7 1/4).
