Help me choose some aero options!

Forget the Aero, buy the Schott 689H and call it a day
Yeah I mean it looks good and would be cheaper. People in the reviews are complaining a lot about QC issues, saying there are chunks of leather that look like they’re kinda falling out. Also, I didn’t notice it while wearing a black shirt but the wind flap I think looks terrible, especially when wearing another color shirt.

I figured aero would go the distance better in terms of longevity

Honestly, longevity wise I don’t think there’ll be much difference. They both use thick horsehide-you’re more likely to change your taste or put on weight before your jacket falls apart.

If you’re near a schott store you could just inspect the items carefully or just buy used.

For what’s it worth I owned a few Aeros- I had no issues. The other the zipper broke twice.

My point is I don’t think you will see a difference in durability. But if your heart is set on Aero, get the Aero. If you want the Aero and get something else, you won’t be content

Go with PWHM it a more trim fit and if it’s custom made you can make it for layering and brown stitching after some time and use it will blend with the patina, as for the lining I don’t think you will see a huge difference in warmth, I have a jacket with wool lining and it doesn’t really make much of a difference

I don’t like how narrow the shoulders are on the PHWM. I don’t think the pattern is flattering for a strong taper

If you go custom you could ask them make the shoulders broader, the hwm will be even more boxy I think

I recently picked up a Premier Highwayman in Cordovan CXL FQHH on eBay and was really pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it is - on a par with my Goatskin and Vicenza Aeros. In fact, probably more comfortable than my goat Aero/Levis jacket as the pattern is a lot more forgiving.

Previously I’d avoided CXL because I thought it would be unpleasant to wear all day, but that’s not been the case at all. Not sure if I got lucky with a thinner batch or am just benefitting from the previous wearer having broken it in a little for me.
