Hello everyone,
I’m seeking your expert help to identify a very unique leather jacket that I believe may be a bespoke or prototype piece made for Arnys (Paris) or possibly Berluti (LVMH), likely produced in Solofra, Italy in the late 1990s or early 2000s.
Key details:
• Material: Extremely soft, premium lambskin leather in a warm caramel/honey brown shade.
• Lining: Custom jacquard lining with repeated ARNYS logos (see photos).
• Labels: Only a “Lavorazione Artigianale” (handcrafted) label—no classic Arnys or Berluti brand label.
• Hardware: Lampo zippers, Fiocchi snaps (both Italian, premium quality).
• Style: Asymmetrical, motorcycle-inspired cut with unique pocket arrangement and distinct tailoring.
• Condition: Excellent, appears to be barely worn.
• Origin: Based on the construction, materials, and hardware, I suspect it was made in Solofra, Italy—a region famous for luxury leather craftsmanship and supplying major French houses.
What I’ve learned so far:
• D’Arienzo Collezioni (a well-known Solofra maker) not only confirmed that Arnys did collaborate with high-end Italian workshops in the 1990s/2000s for special or limited pieces, but also explained that such unique orders or prototypes often did not receive a classic brand label, only a “Lavorazione Artigianale” tag. The documentation for these garments was often kept only in the workshops’ internal archives or preserved through personal memories.
• They specifically acknowledged the unique status of my jacket, emphasizing that the materials, tailoring, hardware, and lining all point to Solofra’s artisanal traditions and bespoke/prototype production for luxury clients.
• They also highlighted that Arnys placed particular emphasis on craftsmanship and frequently requested completely unique details that were created only for individual orders.
• Berluti’s archives could not confirm the jacket, but did not rule out its authenticity as a bespoke/prototype item.
• I have contacted several other Solofra-based companies for more information and am currently awaiting replies.
Questions:
• Has anyone seen a similar jacket before, or does anyone recognize the construction or lining?
• Is the “Lavorazione Artigianale” label (without a brand label) typical for prototypes or bespoke orders from Italian workshops?
• Any information about Solofra-made pieces for Arnys/Berluti, or about the use of Lampo/Fiocchi hardware in such commissions?
• Any advice on further steps or archives to consult?
Thank you very much for any help, information, or leads you can provide!
