Nice idea. I've just send them an enquiry.

If you are in this for the long run, try to go there in person.

I have found the customer service in the shop to be much more reliant than via E-Mail. Also, you can see their actual designs/check their patterns.
I am thinking that maybe you will want to go with the standard Cafe Racer with custom stripes rather than the Eaysy Rider, once you see their jackets in the flesh.

BTW: I am absolutely with you re JL; they make great jackets, but as a first time customer, I have never felt them to be really forthcoming.

Fair point. Probably the best route to take. Still struggling to find any of these jackets online in the second hand space though. I'm thinking about going for a Used - Belstaff Cyclops Jacket now

All these options are cheaper than having Lewis or JL making you a $1000+ copy of a copy of some old-ass $30 jacket.

But even finding a Belstaff of same or very similar design shouldn't be a problem. What size are you?

Anyone who may be interested in having Lewis Leathers customise a jacket for them may be interested in this response I just received from their Customer Service rep:

"'I'm afraid we don't deviate from the original patterns/design.
We only make size adjustments to the jackets, of course you can choose what lining/leather you want."

Oh man, that´s at least misleading. You CAN customize the stripes, both on their Easy Rider and on their Super-Sportsman; I had a lenghty discussion with them this year August.
Isn´t it always great when the customer service guys don´t have an intrinsic motivation to eyplore how to meet customer demands rather than frustrating them from the get-go.

(I guess, the referral to "choose what leather" is a cumbersome way of saying that as the stripes are leather too, of course.)

Seems to be a common trend I've seem amongst most of the big names in leather jackets these days, at least from my perspective as an international buyer. If you aren't prepared to just blindly accept whatever they have on offer they aren't interested in putting in any effort, even when money is no object.

I am happy at least that Lewis Leather got back to me with an answer. Unlike Vanson

There's many of them on Vinted, just that the prices are all over the place.
Can you tell me if items listed on Vinted are available worldwide or do you have to be within one of the regions specified when first opening up the site? I'm located in Australia and there was no option for this.

Edit: After a quick search I think you can only purchase within your own region. Bummer!

I'm sure someone on the forum can help you out with that. It's what we do. I also cannot buy from Vinted directly and have to rely on a proxy but otherwise...

For anyone following. I've been looking at pre-owned Belstaff Racing Blouson's on vintage trading websites like Joli Closet and Vestiaire Collective. These jackets are typically going anywhere from $820USD to $1600USD and above (they are extremely rare). I made offers on a couple of them but the sellers appear to be holding firm.

After careful consideration I thinking about going with a brand new Vanson House Jacket with Stripes. I think it's just a little too risky paying inflated costs for a 20 year old Belstaff jacket even though it's the one I've had my heart on from the beginning. At least with a new Vanson jacket I'll have the fun of breaking it in myself with the assurance that it will last.

That’s what I would ( and have) do. Vanson makes a great jacket that will last you the rest of your life.

That is a solid plan sir, it'll last and you should have no regrets about it!
