Hawaiian Shirts - Aloha Shirts

Mike, I posted the "King", but you definitely followed up with a "Killer"! Che did you justice man. Those avantis have the crispest colors and prints, and that one is definitely an attention getter.

Benny H I can remember watching the Aloha from Hawaii broadcast when I was a kid. Pretty groundbreaking stuff, if you stop to think about it, broadcast via satellite all over the whole world, live. In this day and age of high speed internet it's easy to lose sight of what an accomplishment that was for the time. And since that picture of E on front of the shirt is from that concert, I figured it belonged to this thread....even though the shirt came from Memphis.

You're right man, it's easy to forget how far we've come with technology and how big an event the Aloha From Hawaii broadcast was. Heh, even people ten years younger than us struggle to remember a world before cell phones. Anyway keep 'em rolling! I'm off in a week and I'll have some beauties to share with you all when I get back mid September; plus Spring will have sprung here by then and I'll be getting ready to pull my short-sleeve summer shirts out of the back of the closet for the warmer weather.

Couldn't be happier with this latest Ebay snag. Fresh out of the bag in need of a press. True vintage Penney's (50's label) made in Japan 100% Rayon. Nicest Rayon I've seen/felt. I like birds so attracted to this featuring Japanese themed birds, Great White Herons on row boats and Cormorants, some on glass fishing floats. The ancient Japanese used Cormorants to fish with by tying a leash on their legs and a noose around their necks so they couldn't swallow the fish they dive for. I'm pretty sure this is also hand printed. Vintage cut very short in front as well as sleeves. Only 4 plastic pearl buttons, loop collar (with pockets for stiffeners, double pockets (non-matching like my other vintage Aloha shirts), double pleated back, and interesting sleeve hem sewing. Fits too!

I haven't been to this thread in awhile. Great looking shirts everybody!

Mike, you've come up with some real beauties recently!

Dale, the Elvis shirt is great!

For all you Elvis fans, here is a great YouTube video of Elvis. It is not from Hawaii but it is one my favorite videos of him performing. The female backup singers he is joking with are "The Sweet Inspirations". One of them is Cissy Houston. Whitney Houston's mother.

PS: I forgot to mention that I read in article about those concerts in Vegas that Elvis was actually directing the lights and band by his hand and body movements. A couple of times in the video he looks back at the band and smiles like he is surprised it actually worked.

I've decided to part with my collection (about 30 shirts total). Mixed collection of TBs, Sun Surfs, a few Tori Richards, etc. if anyone is interested I'll be selling them off as a whole unit priced low to resell.

Another vintage find, this is a no name but has all the characteristics of vintage: wide collar, 4 button front, unmatched pocket, and 2 pleat back. Seller listed it as silky-rayon and when I questioned her further she replied that under a loupe she could make out Rayon on the care tag. She has better eyes than I, I think it might be polyester. I'm happy with it, I like the vintage cut, the colors really pop but are naturalistic but the main reason I bought it was for the signed fabric: G.V.H. HAWAIIPRINT is the trademark of G. Von Hamm Textiles who along with A. Shaheen were the pioneers of Hawaiian Island print and textile manufactering.

Care tag showing Rayon?
