Waaaay to hot for this yet Mike, but it's coming.

You might have to start a new thread with that one dh66. As I mentioned, I'm not cut anymore to fit one of my L/XL Hawaiian shirts into a properly cut leather jacket. If it weren't for my Buddha belly I should be wearing a medium. Half the reason I wear Hawaiian shirts is they are cut so loose I can try and hide my pooch a bit. I call em my "fat guy" shirts :)

Reminded me of this cherry jacket I had custom tailored in 1980 but haven't been able to fit into in decades:

It went with a 76 BMW R90/S. Probably getting a bit off topic here but nobody else seems to notice.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, and most of all, nice jackets! I think I'll try sweaters this winter with a Hawaiian underneath but stick the collars out over the sweater's neckline.
I've actually seen one or two Sun Surf's in a XXL. It could have been a figment of my imagination though.
No matter the body type there will always be pros and cons for every type of person for every garment. I'm as skinny as a rail-nice that I can fit into the smaller sizes, but I think larger guys pull off the look better a lot of the time.

You don't need a hawaiian shirt to be heard in that jacket Mike. 1980 indeed, I love it.

Nick - I can't fit in 'em but I still admire 'em. Please post more when you get them

Tropicana. Guessing 60s or 70s. My only true vintage one. I'm a pretty big guy so it's hard to find old ones that fit. It's one of my favorites.

Really like the Tiki shirt Dale. You'd think there could be a separate thread for all the car themed shirts out there but then again look at the bowling shirt thread. Buried so deep it's takes a pro to find it. This one doesn't have that much more life ;)

Snagged this one outta the bay, just got here today. Older Reyn Spooner repop of a 1950s Florida theme with marlins and flamingos. Fits perfectly, I'm pretty stoked about it.
Weatherman is threatening temps in the 70s by the weekend. Hope to post some action shots in the appropriate thread.

A page from "The Hawaiian Shirt" book by H.Thomas Steele showing the original from the 50s. Did I mention I was stoked?

Congrats Dale. I've stopped looking (well mostly, do peek occassionally) during the off season for financial and spousal reasons. It's a good time to find em though.

Given our size requirements, it's about impossible to find an original that will fit so the repops are a blessing.

I understand Mike. Especially the spousal reasons.

It's just as well that I'm too big for 'em, hats are chump change compared to some of the original 30s and 40s shirts I've seen.

Ha, yeah. I used to think the repros were pricey until I got a load of what an original typically fetches!!

My personal favorite for the highest quality aloha shirts in the islands. They even make a great polo shirt which is hard to find, but well worth it when you do.
