He was just here in March but I had already bought good tickets for Beth Hart in April. He got in & out before the covid lockdown; Beth Hart didn't. Don't know if/when she can reschedule.

The last time I saw old Jorge was at Madison Square Garden, somewhere around ‘87 or ‘88. Had a blast, far as I can recall. Which isn’t too damn far.

I've only seen him live a couple of times at Sturgis, at the Buffalo Chip, Broken Spoke or one of those places.

I bought this bottle of Green Spot Single Pot Still Whiskey back closer to St. Patrick's Day & just spent the time to open & run it thru it's paces, wearing a Stetson One-hundred. As Irish whiskies go, smooth but not complex at all. Oily, not dry but not wine like either. To get the most from this I will drink it as an aperitif before or a digestif a few hrs after a meal with a clean palate; never with food. Drink neat, no ice or whiskey stones.

I also sometimes like whiskey a little on the rough side. We call it shooter whiskey, not sipping whiskey.

Ever walk into a clip joint all by yourself & the doorman seats you in this big red horseshoe shaped booth? And before you know it two women slide in from both ends of the booth so you can't get out & they ask, "Buy me a drink?" And to be polite you say, "Sure", so they both order a $40 glass of champagne which is really ginger ale? Been there; done that! Ego can be an expensive lesson before you learn it.

Mr HJ, I’m pretty confident that you know it, but I’m gonna play it safe and say it anyway, to make sure. I was having fun with the way you worded that review, didn’t seem like you dug it at all. I was not being unkind or judgmental and I certainly wasn’t trying to insult you. Just basically feeling your pain and enjoying your hat.

I didn't misconstrue your post & therefore took no offense from it. And I still do like shooter Whiskey. I'm not disappointed in the Green Spot Single Still Pot; it just probably won't earn a spot in my cabinet by replacing another at it's price point.

In reflecting on the previous thoughts I am struck by my belief tastes, smooth whiskeys, are not wrong. Individualistic is the word that comes to mind this evening. It happens that I recall that I enjoyed the smooth nature of this whiskey. This week I will have to sample some of the Green Spot to remind myself of the taste. Tuesday sounds like a perfect day for Green Spot. I may have caused a ripple this past year when I posted on this thread that I was enjoying Yamazaki 12, Habiki and perhaps even the blended Red Breast. Turns out, to me, they are very tasty. Being a rookie whiskey fellow, I do not have many requirements other than taste.
It has been my more inexperienced taste that allows me to say, each day demands a different taste. Some days nothing beats a dram of a peaty Laphroaig single malt. Today I just desire a smooth whiskey. I have a small whiskey selection, 8 different bottles, and imagine that my 1st world decision is what kind of taste to sample today. Days matter.
Via this thread, and others I have become aware of many whiskeys that I would not have considered when shopping the shelves at my local liquor store. I have to say I have only picked a couple "wrong" for me whiskeys.
I have to reflect that the above longish narrative, is the voice from my tired body and mind.
Home this evening after speaking to staff and coaches about internal business procedures needed to re-open under the current pandemic I finished my morning coffee and headed down to the dock to re-energize sipping a gose beer (brewed by local Omni Brewing).
I will make opportunity to Green Spot it this week. I have to check out my memory.

I was thinking it was Green Spot & Red Breast that you had reviewed. I didn't realize or had forgotten it was the Single Pot Still. I apologize if I stepped on toes. I'll have more to say tomorrow but I'm about out of battery tonight.

Oh heck Jack, no toes stepped on here. Seriously. I know all to well we, folks in general just have different tastes. I tried poorly to alliterate that my tastes change daily.
I woke up and put the Green Spot by the coffee maker in the kitchen to remind me to sample some this evening.
