I became involved over a year ago, with an organization that provides boxes of food (vegetables, meat, rice, etc) locally to families for a cost. I've gone to the organization each month and given x amount to support x amount of families. I don't ask for a reciept or thanks, I just believe it's the right thing to do. I've also been known to ask for the bill for military personnel I see in a restaurant, and add it to my bill before leaving. If I wanted them to know who I am I'd introduce myself, but I don't...It's nothing more than being raised right by my grandparents....
There are a number of different "food banks" here in this State that depend on people donating food. Some does come directly from some of the chain store grocery businesses, but the majority comes from caring individuals that have a good heart enough to desire to help those in need. The Church I attend collects food for the food banks and also clothing.
