No wonder it bows up on my 7 3/8 LO noggin
Hey everybody,
I hope all is well and I wanted to ask if anybody knew anything about "Dalton" hats. I came across a Dalton Homburg today and was hoping somebody could shed some light on the brand and any history you might have. The hat was being sold by the grandson of the original owner who said it was from the late 30's early 40's, has been in the box and was in like new condition.
I would appreciate any insight and thanks.
John
Hey Fruno,
Thank you very much for the information. I really appreciate it.
John
Hey Fruno,
I actually am the one that purchased that Dalton Homburg from eBay yesterday. I was a little reluctant to get it because I had never heard anything about the company before. After some debating and seeing that the hat had quite a few people watching the listing, I thought it looked like it was in really nice condition and had been protected in the box for quite a while. After reading the posting and seeing your work with the Dalton brand I'm really glad I took the chance and had the winning bid. I'm really excited to get it as this will be only my second hat.
I joined the club when I purchased an incredible Stetson Royal Deluxe St. Regis as my first just a couple of months ago. I love the Homburgs and I think this Dalton will be a beautiful addition to my personal collection.
You have an incredible Dalton collection yourself and I really enjoyed watching you work on each one in the photos that you posted in this thread. I love your Homburg and the Black, Burgundy color combination on it.
I will get some photos up as soon as she arrives.
John
Hey Fruno,
I'm looking at some of the photos and I don't see "Regal Quality " on the liner. It just has the "Worlds Finest Dalton", New York Branding along with the "John Helmer" Portland Oregon men's store label where it was purchased. You will have to educate me on the "Wind Trolley" I'm not really sure about that, what is it?
I think I got the hats mixed up, the hat I'm thinking of is the one you wore on Monday. It says Dalton Homburg or maybe I got the colors mixed up.
John
Owwwwwww, I see it! I had no idea that was called a wind trolley and what it was for! I thought it was just part of the band. I learn some thing new everyday here in the lounge! I appreciate the insight and hope she is as pretty in person as she looked on the listing. I look forward to sharing her with you and I will let you know when she arrives. I received a message from the seller today and he said he would be shipping it priority mail and expect to see it on Monday.
It's going to be a long five days.
Finished the clean up of my latest Dalton.
This is the teaser with new ribbon.
When I got it the sweat was shot. The ribbon had been stitched into a loop and the seam joining the loop was coming apart. I thought the felt was pretty clean until I removed the ribbon. The hat didn’t have any significant stains but there was just a lot of filth embedded into it over the last 70 or so years.
Naptha bath, a new sweatband from @bond and some reddish brown ribbon I bought for another hat and it’s ready to wear.

Well here she is! She arrived this morning and I am happy to add her to my collection, although she is only my second hat. She is a Dalton Homburg and turned out to be in incredible condition.
John, I didn't see this until just now. I hope you've gotten the Dalton and are enjoying it. I don't wear homburgs a lot but I really like the Dalton. The black felt is really wonderful and has a color mthat almost look purple at times. It's really nice as I'm sure yours is too.Hey Richard,
She is beautiful and another great hat for the collection! I wanted to ask, how do you like your Dalton Homburg? I picked one up on Monday and am currently waiting for it to get here.
