Stefan, Thanks again! This a fairly early one based on the dated ticket stub. I will have to go back and see how it matches up with other Cornetts. Do you still have any? Also it's strange that Wegener names colors after places.

German: Pyritz, is a town in Pomerania, north-western Poland

Super hat Steve and a great colour. I recently bought a Wegener Cornett Homburg from Stefan. I'll post his photos of it. I hope you don't mind Stefan, you take much better pictures than me.
I'm not sure if the handwritten 67 label means the hat is from 1967. I would think not as the liner is sown in. Perhaps it's the price, or just a mistake for its size, 57.
Also interesting is the name Viersen. This is the capital city of the German region Nord-Rhine Westphalia. Once again, a Wegener hat named after a place.
I'd be interested to hear, Steve, if you know why Wegener started this Cornett line.

I was looking through my files and saw that I had sold my only Cornett (it was too large for me). It seems the better coloured homburgs seem to be in other sizes than mine!

Here's a lovely coloured Mayser Spezial homburg in a size 58, or 7 1/4 American. The label doesn't give the colour name, but it's a nice mid-to-dark grey that seems to change hue under different lighting. Brim sits at 5,5cm and the crown at 11,5cm at the center dent. Liner is still stitched in, which puts it in the fifties. Another one that isn't for me due to size. Off to the classifieds it goes.

Your loss was my gain, Stefan. On the other hand, you have some wonderful hats your size that I wish were my size. So the green eyed monster of hats goes around [emoji4]

Stefan, Super find! The Farbe/Color numbers go way back. I know "1" is black but maybe some day I will document the Farbe/Color numbers to felt photos. From what I can similar colors are usually in the same number range.

Stefan, I could only find one other Cornett and it belongs / belonged to Manfred. The photos are missing here so I will post them again. This one has Wegener and Cornett on the sweatband and no mention on the liner. My guess is that it's slightly later than my Cornett. Was yours a Homburg?

Wegener "Cornett", 56cm possibly mid to later 1950s.

That's another fine hat, Steve. Mine was a homburg too (Steve1857 posted the pics above). I have only ever seen Cornett as homburg hats.

I was determined not to buy any more black velour hats, but they have a certain "doggy in the window" appeal to them. Once you start petting one, you're lost. Happened to me with this one (and the next one too).
Echter Haarvelour in black and that's about it. No label or brand in it. It had a liner at one point, but when I found it the crown patch was gone completely. Raw edge brim sits at 6cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. It has a very tall crown and the deep center dent (it wanted it that way) causes somewhat of a reverse taper. Unreeded sweatband, which is in decent shape and a frayed bow. This could also be called a longhair, but who am I to argue?

Another one of those puppies. This one has the moniker Feinste Velour Mode and that's all. I consider this one to be more a true velour if you will, with a shorter nap to the felt. The previous one has a much longer nap and feels more like a longhair. Very dense feel and soft hand. It keeps its shape very well. Raw edge brim at 5,5cm and crown 11cm at the center dent. Still needs a bit of work on the front brim, which shows some slope. I left behind a blue velour hat because of a very pronounced sloping of the brim, which always gives me the impression of a sagging hat.
This one is not as early as the other one, but still a hat with quite a bit of age.

Resolut in grey. Don't see this brand too often and I really like the colours and the shape. Size 58 with the bound brim at 7cm and crown 11cm at the center dent. I wouldn't really call this a fedora because it is meant to be worn brim up. It will work as a fedora, but it's not meant that way. Found two cinema tickets behind the sweatband from Luxemburg (not dated alas).

Stefan, The Velour looks really nice. It's not Soleil but on the longer side. Does it have a paper label? The sweatband is similar to some of the other non branded older German hats that have been found.

Stefan, Another super find! Does it look like it had a liner? This would be more of upright "Open" Velour. Here is how (3 types) the German's classified Velour in the time period.

"The unclipped (unshorn) velour hair is called “Flamand”, in this case the hair is long, undulated, soft and glossy as it reflects a lot of light. When the tips are clipped off and the hair is ironed all around or from top to bottom one talks about “Soleil”. Most difficult is the production of upright “Open” velour because in this case a particular tightness (or density?) and sturdiness of the hair is necessary and it is significantly harder to produce the same amount of gloss as where an entire, smooth surface displays."

Stefan, Great to see this Resolut! The last Homburg area hat company. I really like their hats. I agree on the form and colors.

Steve, thanks. Didn't know that of the three velour variations: very good information. The Echter Haarvelour has a label (don't know why I forgot to post that). Here it is:
IMG_1143.jpg

The Feinste Velour Mode probably did have a liner at one point. There was no residu of glue on the crown tip and I found a few loose threads underneath the sweatband.

Everyone knows my passion for hats with short, medium and long hair. The sight of these two splendid specimens pushed me to climb over the closet where there are the boxes of the "hairy" Italians.
Coming soon on this screen.
Two fantastic finds
