Garrett, Great to hear from you! I hope all is well with you. I am happy that you have this fantastic A. Peschel Neutitschein Velour. You might have told me but I had forgotten. I also forgot about the Velour nap being clockwise.
When I was steaming and brushing the Austrian velour I couldn't settle on a direction for the nap. In some regions it seemed to run counter-clockwise - in other areas it seemed to lay clockwise. It gives the finish a cowlick nappiness similar to a fur coat and I didn't attempt to make it more uniform. I will go back to the hat and explore this further.

Alan, I have encountered similar but usually I can get it to be somewhat uniform. Robert had one that could be brushed in both directions. Metal brushes like these are used on a touring machine with slightly acidic water but this is not in my playbook.

Original Mayser Milz & Cie. "Carlton, Sämisch Extra" 62cm probably mid 1950s. The light green felt has a Chamois finish and easily dry creases. I have never seen one like this before so very unique. The color and finish will look much better in natural light.

Recently attached a new ribbon to this old Huckel Seal Velour. I'm still planning on having a hatter fix it up with something a bit better but until then it'll be nice to be able to wear this one around a bit more.
I think it already looks wonderful. Great job.

I’ve been looking for an old velour for a project hat. I wanted something already damaged so as not to destroy a vintage hat and I can across this. It doesn’t fit what I’m looking for, but the style and details grabbed my attention.

Yes, it was listed as a woman’s hat. I’ve converted them before and once reblocked and a ribbon sewn on with the bow on the left no one is the wiser.

Interesting women's Trachten Velour. I would guess 1960s.I’ve been looking for an old velour for a project hat. I wanted something already damaged so as not to destroy a vintage hat and I can across this. It doesn’t fit what I’m looking for, but the style and details grabbed my attention.

Would it be vandalism if I stripped the hat and just reused the felt? If it’s only from the 1960s maybe it’s not in need of preservation and could fit the bill as a donor hat? If it’s common and fairly recent I wouldn’t feel bad about repurposing it.

Some folks don’t take kindly to seeing anything “vintage” modified. I’m sort of in the middle, but a nice velour felt will get me off the fence.

Wegener "Cornett", 58cm early 1950s. Great form with extreme rear brim flange. The medium weight smoother finish felt is a rich brown and easily dry creases. Also a unusual + effective ribbon width.

Again: nice find, Steve. These Cornett hats seemed to have gone through a few stages as a sub-brand of Wegener. I have seen them with just their own brand, with both Wegener and Cornett on the liner and with Cornett just on the sweatband of a Wegener hat.Wegener "Cornett", 58cm early 1950s.
