Yes it was great to see Adenauer's Homburg in person. I actually held it my hands.

I have a large number of Homburgs. This is from Feburary 2015 so there are many more. :)

You held Adenauer's Homburg in your hands! OMG! Wouldn't it be great to see, maybe even touch, the great Homburgs of yore: Churchill's, Eisenhower's, Brandt's, Eden's, Wilhelm II's, Edward VII's, Tony Hancock's, and even Al Pacino's from Godfather II, etc. etc. With all those great Homburg icons, how can it be, the Homburg is still not as fashionable as it once was?

Steve, Yes you are now a member. I post everything here on my site plus much more. If it is ok I will post your Mayser on my site. I also replied to your post on the Homburg Nation thread.

Steve, I would be so flattered if you posted my Mayser on your site. Thanks for admitting me into the inner sanctum. I am truly grateful and look forward to swopping hat finds and discussing details of the history and development of hats.

Take care - Steve

Brüder Böhm "Lido", 58cm, Crown Open 5 1/2 inches, Brim 2 inches, very light weight 100g / 3.5oz, NOS condition with mothing, original Paper Size Tag, probably late 1930s. The felt finish is very smooth with a white (a slight hint of green) granite rock effect. It's on the stiffer side but will hand crease. There is a Hare on the logo so it could be fur felt but not really sure because of the processing. A very unique hat but probably not in its time and place. :) This is from my latest Czech find.

I think Homburgs being a formal (they actually started as a casual style) men's hat style made them an easy victim as hat wearing decreased.

Manfred, I think W.I.K could be Wilhelm Ispert Köln. They were a whole seller / importer that are still in business today. If this is the case I am not sure what hat company made the hat for them. I couldn't find any hat company with W.I.K. initials.

The above listing is from the following exhibition guide that I found at the Gotisches Haus (Gothic House) Hat Museum, Bad Homburg. I took photos of a couple more of these exhibition guides. Eventually I will post their entire content.

"Exhibition and Meeting of Men's Hat Retailers from Nordrhein-Westfalen, June 14, 1950, "Gruga" in Essen/Ruhr"

Thanks Steve for the detective work - I found also nothing about W. I. K - It is how it is - a mystery! [emoji16]

Manfred, I actually think W.I.K. is Wilhelm Ispert Köln but my guess is they had the hat made by some unknown hat company. Similar to the hats F.W. Schneider Köln (now Stetson Europe) had produced.
