It looks very good on you, Steve. Makes me think about these vintage pictures where the men all seem wear their hats quite high on their heads. I wonder if that was maybe done just for the photographs or if it was actually the way hats were worn (and if it was would they wear smaller sizes than they were to our standards). No way of knowing I guess. I like that wide ribbon especially.Stefan, Thanks! I can wear it but sits a little high on the head (see below), at least to me. I can't recall when J. Heinr. Ita went out of business but I know they were still operational in 1964. They were a well known / respected company but I rarely come across their hats. This hat is a later example but still very well made.
Stefan, You see a lot of Soft Felt Hats being worn that way (Stiff Felts even more so) in street scenes so it wasn't just for staged photos. Actually you see a range here too. I switch around -> low, medium, high!

Stefan, I think it's from around the mid 1950s. Lembert was a large operation (felt to finished hat) in this time period. Now they have less than 10 employees but still have the factory building. All the machines just sitting there in working order. It's really amazing.
Super! It's great to see older ones like this one. I don't have much information on Swiss hat companies. The old wind cords have loops (not buttons) so probably not too damaged.

That is a great picture. Makes me wonder who the salesman was: the man with the homburg or the young man with the bowler.I think it's more prevalent 1930s and earlier. Also it comes down to personal taste.
