I am selling an extremely rare vintage U.S. Army-issued Peacoat from the 1960s, made from genuine, dense and heavy 100% Kersey wool. It is an exceptionally hard-to-find size 46L (Long/Tall).
I had been searching for a genuine Kersey wool Peacoat for five years and finally managed to source this one myself. Unfortunately, after waiting all that time and finally receiving it, I found that it is just a little too small for my liking. I am therefore reluctantly offering it for sale and will be looking for a size 48L myself.
A 46L is already extremely difficult to find, and I believe a 48L is even rarer. This is therefore a great opportunity for anyone who has been looking for a genuine old-school military Peacoat in a rare Long/Tall size.
The coat is in overall good condition for its age. It does have two very small pinholes in the lapel area, but they do not go all the way through the fabric. Apart from these two tiny pinholes, there are no other damages that I have found.
The Kersey wool is the classic very dense and heavy-weight wool associated with vintage military Peacoats. The coat weighs approximately 2.5 kg, which gives you an idea of how substantial and genuinely heavyweight this garment is. This is the kind of dense, heavy Kersey wool that is difficult to find in modern reproductions.
