FS: Viberg Cordovan CXL Engineer Boots sz. 11 (US 12, EU 46)

Viberg engineer boots, made from Horween Chromexcel or CXL leather in Cordovan color. 2005 Last.

Bought these boots exactly one year ago, wore them 20 times altogether. I don't think I had them on for more than 30 hours in total.

Stunning boots. MASSIVELY heavy, I think each boot is like over 1 kg. Leather is thick though soft. Comfortable right out of the box.

Only signs of use are creases and a few faint impressions here and there. You know CXL, it's like freaking clay! You can flatten the dents with a spoon and make them disappear if you wish, really not a problem at all.

Absolutely and positively no issues of even any kind. Perfectly clean, never worn on dirty feet. CXL smell is still strong!

Reason for sale is that sadly, my toenails are pushing out of the toe-box, something that annoys me to no end - so much that I can't even walk normally in them - and I'd rather sell them before the tip of the boot gets deformed. These simply aren't meant for me.

On top of that, 9 out of 10 times I'll put on harness boots. Just no point in keeping them.

Labeled as size 11, Viberg boots fit one size larger than typical US sizing so I'd say they're pure US 12 or UK 11 or EU 46. I wear EU 46 and these fit me perfectly, with some room to spare. Please make sure to check with Viberg concerning sizing, just to be on the safe side.

They're great but the stupid toe thing really is a deal breaker. It's so bad honestly that I think it would cut through with time or something.

This was the only number available when I bought them but 12 US is just perfect for me, except the toes. Any larger and the boot would be waaay too big. They are very comfortable to wear, too, despite the toe issue. I don't even feel it because the toe box is very soft, but it just looks ugly & I can't get rid of the feeling that I'm destroying them with each step.

I can see that. Sometimes you just get a "ringer" of a pair of boots. I have a pair of 10.5D White's "Otto White Heritage" lace up boots that I tried on in a store in Minnesota. I would have never even tried them on otherwise, but they did and still do fit perfectly. No others under 11 fit, mostly 11.5 - 12.5's of thiers and all other brands. That single pair is unsually made, and they have served me very well.

I have it. Aero Cafe Racer in cordovan CXL. Literally the same leather. That's why it took me so long to list these...

Have you compared the lengths of Viberg 2030 to your Aldens? Is your viberg 2030 narrower than Alden?

Well, all I can tell you for sure that I wear 46 in European sizing and can wear 47, and I find these boots to fit very comfortable or maybe even borderline too large, if worn on thin socks, regardless of this low toe-box issue. It's not an issue per se of course, my feet are to be blamed but I definitely can confirm that the 2005 Last runs larger than what the size number would indicate.

My Sears and Frye are both sz. 11 and they fit much, much smaller than these. I am for all intents and purposes size 12 US.

Boots and shoe sizing can be very strange, also that in some case you can't transfer from one person to another.
E.g. I wear a 10 in RedWing MocToes and a friend in 9. Still in Aldens where I wear a 10.5, a 9 might be fine for him and similarly.

To me Alden Barrie in 10.5D is very similar fit wise to the 2030 in 10.5.
I noticed, that just comparing the shoe or sole length is also often misleading as it also depends on the welt and the last.
In European sizes I'm a 43.5 or 44.

Since they run a bit large have you considered having them resoled in a more narrow width to gain some space for you toes? If the insole is removable you could try one that has less volume in the front.

Nah, nobody I could trust here with this kind of extensive alteration to and I don't like the idea of investing even more money into uncertain result. Besides, even without the issue, I mostly seem to wear harness boots so... If the were okay, I'd keep them but as it stands, best to just pass them on.

I just found the original Viberg bags the boots arrived in. They're pretty awesome, actually! Quality, thick, heavy cotton. Would almost like to keep them but what the heck for, anyway. Another added bonus is Viberg leather lotion that I got with the boots. Not sure what it's like, never used it but here it is.
