Schott NYC motorcycle leather jacket, model 618, in a size US 38.
⛏ PRICE ⛏
€480 shipped to EU. IBAN or PP/FF.
⛏ INFO ⛏
On paper, this is your typical #618.
In reality, I cannot recall handling a leather jacket by any brand, made from thicker leather.
More experienced members of the FL should, perhaps, be able to tell what I mean by looking at the folds but there isn't, of course, any way that the camera can convey the tremendous thickness of the leather on this jacket.
To draw a comparison, only the heaviest examples by Walter Dyer come to mind except that this leather is of a considerably higher grade. Lost Worlds at its best, maybe. Those two are the only brands I can think of that I know have sometimes been working with this kind of leather.
I imagine that this was what Fine Creek was hoping to achieve with their supposed 2 mm Leon, the difference being that the leather on this Perfecto just actually might be 2 mm in thickness.
Wearability-wise, although quite soft & pliable, this isn't the kind of leather that could ever be termed as such. The jacket is comfortable but don't expect it to lose its form for any time soon (if ever). No drape to it, of course.
Visually, the leather displays that perfect matte finish with no perceivable finish applied to it. Just beautiful, natural characteristics of a true full-grain leather of the highest grade. The kind of leather you can pay thousands for and still only hope to get.
Leather aside, it's a Schott Perfecto, model #618 thus what more is there to say?
⛏ CONDITION ⛏
Minimal, if any, signs of use. Few days of wear in it. All the blemishes on the leather were there before the tanning took place.
I bought this jacket for myself because this size generally works for me but not this time. Not even close.
⛏ SIZE ⛏
Size 38 and the measurements, taken to the best of my abilities, are...
