I am offering this beautiful and rare tweed cutaway jacket to fellow Loungers before posting on EBay
This is a superbly tailored jacket with detailing to die for and as rare as hens' teeth. Mountain Research specialise in reworked early 20th century designs and offer a strictly limited number of garments (there are not reissued). According to the label, this was exhibited in May 2010 and I do not anticipate seeing another for a while. I have been looking for one of these for a year or more and thought that I had found the grail, only to find that I am a 44 (XL :eeek where Mountain Research (the Japanese) is concerned. So, reluctantly the jacket is going on sale and my search continues.
Please note my elder son is modelling this for the photos, hence the poor fit.
The Jacket is a modern interpretation of a Edwardian/1920s cutaway design with small lapels, 4-button (2-button fastening) single breasted design.
The hip pockets are set in the skirt and there is (to my eye) a pleasing asymmetry in the large/small pocket layout.
The tweed is very fine and an unusual diamond pattern (not dissimilar to the weave on the bespoke morning coat, which belonged to the millionaire Otto Kahn, that I am offering elsewhere on the FL. The horn buttons are dished in a typical '20's pattern.
The back of the jacket is very detailed with pleated skirt (with a concealed button to preserve the line, unless riding).
The design is finished off with surgeon's cuffs fastened with two buttons in the older Edwardian style.
Dimensions:
Chest 42"
Shoulders 18"
Sleeves 23"
Back seam 32"
A truly beautiful jacket, crafted by a very talented designer.
I am asking £300 plus postage/PayPal fees where applicable. PM me if interested - otherwise I shall put it on EBay.
