FS: 1950s Shearling Coat (Canadienne / Barnstormer), sz. L

PRICE
€220 shipped within the EU. It's a heavy coat so if elsewhere, we'll figure it out.

INFO
From what I gather, this is an authentic 1950s French-made shearling coat, known as Canadienne. Basically what we'd call a Barnstormer 'round these parts. I could be wrong about the age so maybe someone could chime in?

Impressively & quite uniquely, the body of the jacket is made with two separate layers of leather; Thick sheepskin or goatskin exterior, lined with sheep shearling interior. The sleeves are lined with warm textile fabric. Collar & lapels are also brown shearling, although of a slightly different, thicker sort.

Double-breasted design with 6 wooden button closure & detachable belt fastening. Four canvas-lined, deep exterior pockets. Thickly padded quilt around the hem.

Its beauty is matched only by what a joy it is to wear it. So cozy, warm and perfectly functional. Feels like you could live in it. Feels like home.

CONDITION
Obviously, this is an old coat displaying visible general signs of use consistent with normal wear & age, such as fading of the finish, few nicks and scuffs here and there, etc.
Most prominent flaws are that One sleeve cuff strap is missing a button and there some "balding" of the fur around the shoulder area.
Regardless, the coat is perfectly wearable right out of the box.

SIZE
I wear a size 52 EU (42 US) the coat fits me perfectly - Except in the sleeves which are deceptively short (for me), even though the numbers suggest otherwise.
The approximate measurements are...

  • Chest width (P2P): 61 cm / 24"
  • Waist width: cca. 60 cm / 23.5"
  • Shoulders width (back): 51 cm / 20"
  • Sleeve length (outside curve, feels shorter): cca. 62 cm / 24.5"
  • Back length (without collar): 81 cm / 32"

MISC
If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to write. Happy to help. Shipping from European Union. Thanks.

Mines very heavy, I tried it once and was too warm for here in Madrid View attachment 753450

This one has cowhide shell for sure and the collar fur looks thiccer. Mine, or as of today, Ksozay's to be exact, is some 4 kg heavy so I can't imagine how heavy this one is.

I have a leather trench-coat from similar looking leather which is the most beastly leather garment I had. Or right up there.

It's heavy but not hard it's well softened up, just too heavy for Madrid weather it's also not horrible to wear either, if I lived somewhere colder I would have
