Does anyone know if the La Brea is more or less readily available from the Japanese shops, or are most pre-order?

some odd sizes here and there but there is a pre order going on now for Sept 2022 delivery

Ah, I see two sites listing it as March 2022. Is September the more realistic timeframe? I'm after a size 40 (I think!), in either of the black colors.

I just spent that past few days scouring for one in size 38 and no dice. You will have to do a pre-order for March 2022. If you are a 40 or 42 I think Speedway has some slots left. They had just sold out of the 38s when I emailed them and I am gutted. Trying to find another store doing the pre-order right now.

From what Genco Clothing communicated with me there will be a delay of delivery for the La Brea Rude Black 2022 batch. Something about the current Shinki batch not up to par for FW Standards so they are delaying the drop. I'm in line to get a size 36 jacket myself

One more follow up question about sizing, if anyone has any input or suggestions.

I'm trying to nail down my size here, it's either a 40 or a 42. I actually don't my my exact chest measurements, but I can provide the following info:

Height: 5'11.5"
Weight: 190lbs but about to start a regimen which should reliably bring me down to 180lbs at least.
I have a Fine Creek Leathers "Richmond" (type 1 style leather) in size 42 that fits me pretty spot on (and fit me well even 10lbs ago). Measurements on that are here: https://www.selfedge.com/jackets-vests?product_id=2701&filter=27
I tried a Fountainhead "Delta" in size 42 and that was a pretty decent fit, maybe sliiiiightly large.

I've looked at all measurements available from the Japanese shops, and these forums, but I've also heard you can't really go on numbers alone for this one.

If the consensus is size 42, then there's one in the classifieds that I can grab. If it's size 40, I'll have to order it online and wait till March. (but I'd be able to get the "Black Jack" color)

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Pls provide chest and shoulder measurements
And also the pic you try on fcl fountainhead, I have no idea why a lot of people go for fcl and fountainhead, one should definitely pursue the leading share. Once you have a Freewheelers leather jacket you would find how ridiculous the cutting of fcl and fountainhead was and they are designed solely for Japanese people body shape.

I just measurement my chest wearing a tight t-shirt... the actual chest measurement is 48.5cm. Not sure how to translate that into jacket measurement.

Should've taken a pic but forgot to.

Well, yes that's what I'm trying to do here :p

I actually managed to find a brown La Brea in my size which is cool because I prefer brown to black. I didn't even think that one would have been possible given how long ago they last did the brown one.

Looks like the drop of the La Brea this year will be wild.

I knew that there was a brown 38 out there! I have made comments about it in the past! Congrats!

Unfortunately the only advice I can give you is:

1. If you don't already have one, get yourself a cloth measuring tape.
2. Measure everything you own that fits you comfortably, especially jackets. Sleeves, PTP, hem, lengths etc.
3. Data aggregate. Compare all the measurements. Find the zone that you feel fits you well.
4. Have someone help you measure your body, or go see a tailor to measure you.
5. Understand how styles will fit. Sometimes in our mind we only see how we want it to fit, until we see it with our own eyes on our own bodies. This takes experience. What are high arm holes? How do you want to wear the jacket, with layers, T-shirt? Action backs? Taper?
6. Realize that you may make an expensive mistake, are you prepared for that? Not everyone will fit in a X jacket, especially when they are off the shelf.

Pretty darn excited I must say! Thanks!

I also agree that a cloth measuring tape is absolutely essential. Total must have. You need to know your own body measurements.

48.5cm then 40 should be okay, consider you are only 180cm and 85kg, size 40 the body length and sleeve would be perfect, 42 labrea chest is around 113 114cm, 40 is around 106 107cm. In case you have 97cm chest, but 85kg, I assume you have a big belly, la brea is your best choice among leather jackets of Freewheelers, it has pretty much room for the waist and belly.

Hello,
I'm Chris and looking for a leather jacket. I went shopping for one and found a "la brea".
I almost bought it and am planning on buying it.
But since it is a big amount of money, still unsure.

I took 2 pics, but not good ones.

I would love too hear your honest opinions.

Ugh, just got notice that the La Brea I pre-ordered in January will not be delivered because Freewheelers has apparently discontinued the La Brea all together! Does anyone happen to have any other info?
