I’ve noticed a few differences — the N-1 seems a bit dressier. It has the 270 instead of 360 degree storm welt. The N-1 also has toe spring out of the box and a bit more of an upright look, whereas the M43 is a bit angled forward and down. The quarters on the N-1 look a tad longer, covering more of the vamp. The heel also seems a bit lower, it’s missing one bit of leather stack, so the heel is directly stacked on the full sole.

Yup, the N-1 last is a bit sleeker where the M43 looks more work boot-like to me. 270 v 360. The heel is 1/4” lower with no leather stack in between the full sole and heel block. Also, the soles are a custom design by Lofgren only available on the N-1 and the tongue is roughout out, not flesh out. Plus, laces lol. Subtle, but the overall packages are different enough.
They are both awesome and I had a tough time choosing, but since my dad was in the Marine Corps I went with the Navy version. Plus, I liked the sole and silhouette slightly more.

Yes, you are right. There are differences. Personally, I find them hardly noticeable in real life. I was trying to decide if I had a visual preference between the two models and got nowhere. I love my Service Boots, and I am sure I’d be equally happy with the Boondockers.

Wow! That was pretty quick - I thought his lead time was over 12 months these days?
Adding in on edit, I doubt I could wear them, they are simply too pristine, perfect, and beautiful. I would probably just look at them, perch them on a shelf and dust them off every week or so.

Materials and construction are flawless. 98% rating. Initial fit i expected better. We met in person and discussed. I was sized in thin socks with a goal of being able to wear them in the summer. I find them slightly loose with heavy socks. According to Brian the instep strap should be purely decorative. That is not the case with mine. I reached out to discuss with him. No solution or advice was offered. My impression from the process is that Brian is a much better bootmaker than business man. I don’t really take issue with that. I think its much better that he spends his time making boots rather than answering correspondences but overall it was not the boutique experience i expected.
tldr: i think they will be great after some break in
