I've been looking at these Grinders El Paso boots. Western style boots aren't usually my thing at all, but something about these really has me interested.

Maybe it's the combo of colours? Maybe it's the chunkiness? Dunno.

I expect they'll be decently put together, being Grinders. Thoughts on the styling?

Love it! The contrast from heel to body is starc, but a Cowboy Boot for casual wear is s statement, so the thing may well look like one!

I've bought a pair of western Chelsea's from Grinders recently and I'm super happy with the build quality and fit overall :)
I love the very sleek design on many of grinders boots :)

^^ Your big kitty, who of course is the full owner of it all is doing a great job guarding your (very beautiful) wares there! Those Role Clubs are a masterpiece!
You are very correct, he owns all in the photo, in addition to my heart. Thank you for your kind words! I can't believe how much the Role Clubs have darkened, they were nearly white 3 months ago when I got them.

Just ordered some rolling dub trio gleaners and I cannot wait for them to come in. Been on a kick lately of looking for leather boots. Fingers crossed these are the ones

Nice. Grinders often get overlooked, but imo they compete well up against some much more expensive boots. My first engineers were Grinders. Still have them. Not quite as nice as my Chipps or Red Wings, but when the occasion calls for a boot with a hefty, commando-style sole, whether wet or snow, they are great.

Many years ago, in my metal days, I had a pair of short cowboy boots very much in this style, though mine came from "Shoezone", labelled 'Made in Romania'. Wore them a lot for a couple of years, then tastes moved on and they lived in the wardrobe. Then for a few years after that they served as my Riff Raff boots. Fun times. They're in contention for a potential airport boot for me (penny loafers are great or security, but not always ideal for every location I land at). Also looking at their Harness boots (though not for flying). Big plus is they're available in stores in Camden, so I can actually go and try them on. Much easier than dealing with mail order.

Herring shearling lined boots. No idea who made them for them, they are made in the UK so I assume Barker.

I think they use a few different makers, but Barker are definitely in the running there. Herring put their name on some very nice shoes. Barker's own-label shoes are great too. They get a bit overlooked sometimes, but they are great stuff. Hold their own against Loake and Grenson. Trickers would be the ultimate for me for what they do, but they're also markedly more expensive.

I have a pair of Herring brogue oxfords that I know they are made by Barker. Lovely pair.
I love my Trickers though they are a different genre than Barker; Barker shoes are dress shoes, I would say qualitywise similar to Loake; Trickers are built like tanks, country shoes and quite better quality than the aforementioned. I would place Grenson a step below Barker and Loake.
Needless to say that from the UK brands I am an avid C&J fanboy (although their prices have skyrocketed).

Grenson does depend on the line. I like their higher end stuff, though in truth their important are a lot better than some of the online commentary is prepared to accept.

Trickers are certainly a sweet spot between a casual shoe and one I could get away with in the office with tweeds.

Grenson used to have 3 product lines (at least they did when I got mine 9 years ago); the made in India g2, the made in the UK g1 (prices around the normal C&J line) and the rare g0 which uses to be their top series, prices sikilar to the C&J handgrade series. Fell for it and got me a g0, quality wise I would place it between loake and normal C&J, definitely not handgrade.

I generally only wear Trickers, William Lennon and RM Williams, but my wife recently got some Grenson's from the G2 line. I was very impressed with them, they can regularly be had for well under RRP and represent great value for money at that sort of price point. A lot of their styling isn't to my taste but I'd definitely consider them in the future.

That´s how I see it too. Grenson makes some very nice shoes with more than decent quality. The design is a bit more "contemporary" than C&J, so people are too easily dismissing them as "sub par", IMO.

I am always confused about the sheer volume of models Grensons thorws at the public all the time. I wonder if they do not diminish the perception of value by overload alone.
At the same time, you can make some real bargains when you keep your eyes peeld for some of the higher end stuff during their regular sales (does C&J ever offer their products at a reduced price at all...??).
