Likely because they don't advertise. They don't need to. I'd encourage you to read about their history. Their shop is like a walk back in time with ancient machines and guys who have been making shoes by hand for 30+ years. These are true craftsmen. The owners can look at a shoe and tell you exactly who made it. Each cobbler has his own "signature." A little tip...at any one time, they have a number of shoes sitting on their shelves that can be had for a discount, ie custom shoes that didn't work. Call up and tell Ralph or Suzie about your sizing and they can let you know if they have anything that might fit you.

Super cool. Love that they go by word of mouth and let their worksmanship do all the advertisement for them. Will take that tip into account and will most definitely order a pair from them in the future. Love to support people/business such as this.

Any pics? For all their steady century of business, there seems to be very few online images of Russell mocs in the wild.

These are my kangaroo Thula Thula's...one of their most versatile boots for working around the property. For rugged mountain stuff, I have Grand Slam Sheep Hunters in bison. For going to town, the Art Carter's. I have a friend who was a hunting/fishing outfitter and brutalized his gear. He still wears Russells that are 50+ years old. For the past 30 years, except for dress, I wear nothing but Russell's. The moccasin construction molds to your foot like nothing else. Only problem with them is that they are not conducive to orthotics.

They are famous within the Midwest among hikers, hunters, birdwatchers, wildlife photographers, etc. Russells became so popular in Japan though that even before Covid average wait times were something like five months?

Don’t forget about Yuketen and Quoddy. I’ve got a pair of quoddy Mocs that I love. I wore Clark’s desert boots all through college until I found these fine Maine shoemakers.

My first pair of engineers. Wesco Mr. Lou in natural Horween Es***. Got them used for a very good price and they fit great without a chance to try them on.
They are used so I gave them a good cleaning with saddle soap and conditioned them. I'm looking forward for a little more patina and a litte darker colour. Maybe another rabbit hole...

Loving the RM Williams Chelsea boots I got from @JCSD. The leather soles are slippery but it's not so bad on pavement. I'm for sure getting a black pair later, these boots are so comfy to wear.

how did you order your boots? I’ve tried reaching out to onderhound a few times through Instagram with no luck. looks like he does good work. These look pretty impressive.

Onderhoud's owner, Rizky, replied to my direct message and that's how my order process started. It took 6 months for that reply to happen so don't get your hopes up, just message him from time to time and hope he gets back to you really.

I think you will have better luck with Motor out of Japan. They will have a dress engineer boot drop later in the month, it's only $100 more than the onderhouds
