Tried the CXL Vibergs today, and really liked them, thanks for pointing them out!

I did not get them immediately, because of an upcoming trip to Japan that came up. So I thought I might as well go check the Japanese brands again before buying my boots.

I have already been to:
- Attractions (really liked some of their boots)
- slowwear.co.jp (not as interesting to me)

Curious to check out Brass Tokyo
@dudewuttheheck your pictures look fantastic, what is it that you like about brass Tokyo that you do not find in the other high end Japanese makers?

Are there any other Japanese makers I should check out while there?
Also is it better to get the boots at the shop or order them online and get them delivered at the hotel?

And if you wanna try Clinch, better to go to one of the dealers and not Brass Tokyo. I don't think Brass Tokyo has any ready stock for you to try on.
Many of the clothing brands have their own engineer boots. Lonewolf (of Toyo Enterprise), Beck (Toys McCoy), Buco (Real McCoy), Cushman, John Lofgren etc

Amen brutha. I cultivate the superlative indigent style. T-shirts, flannels, jeans, and sneakers, but all made with top quality materials and manufacturing methods. To most, I appear ragged and destitute, but I feel like a million bucks and that is all that matters (that, my friends, is the definition of the "superlative indigent style"). The handmade HH jacket might belie my otherwise dingy, homeless appearance, but the rest of the ensemble effectively counteracts and suppresses the positive perceptions originating from the disparate jacket, so as to maintain the overall superlative indigent appearance. In other words, I dress to unimpres.

I like Ariat heritage roper boots. Really comfortable when worn in, excellent grip and flexibility, and no metal in them so you're straight through the airport.

With sneakers like that I can’t believe you have the apparence of a homeless person.

Every time you post a photo I dont’t think you look like a “slob”.

And Graig I don’t think “the General” would let you look like one [emoji6]

I think everyone can look good even in really simple clothes like a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers.
The only important thing, IMHO, is to always size your garnement correctly otherwise you will look like... a slob.

Very true. I rarely wear more than $150 worth of clothing at any given time. And these days it all fits! The leather jackets have been an indulgence but that's only because the bloody things cost so much. The things I most enjoy and value are thrift shop finds.

RM Williams are very high quality and durable, great return on investment IMO. Probably the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.

Polished up the Thorogood Portage Roofer "Monkey Boots" while watching some football.

It's like I'm going to the prom - very fancy, and I don't know what laces to choose.

And BTW, @Kasper brings up a good point - I have "Pre TSA" to run through the checkin process. If I have some boots like certain Red Wings with a steel shank, I get the shank and have to strip down and all benefits of the Pre TSA are shot. So keep that in mind!

Manual labor is fun, and I just don't see these types of boots as showing off - I save that for my more fancy Western boots.

Yes, "Indigo". Hard to photo well - nigh impossible. I think folks with Blue leather jackets have had the same challenge!

I think so too. But I had to laugh when I took them in to have the heels looked at - the people that own the shop (an old school place that makes me so happy) said "wow - these are HEAVY boots!". They are indeed substantial bits - and in size 13, quite the load.

Since I had these on buy short list, I had to grab them at $199! A no-brainer as they say. There's also the Beloit if the Portage doesn't excite you...

They are both excellent in quality. I found the Beloit boring compared to the Portage, so I have a collection of those. They are heavy boots, but comfortable. Run about 1/2 size large. I love them, and I will probably keep buying them as new colors are released.
