Footwear to go with our jackets

Hoping someone can clear this up, i'm looking to get a new pair of boots and like the look of Chippewa Service boots. However I keep hearing these run big, up to a size bigger and have been recommended to get a full size smaller than my regular size. Im normally a 8.5 UK (9.5 US) but in some boots I can wear a small UK 9. I tend to do better in wide fitting boots and my best fit are 8.5H (Aus/UK) RM Williams boots. Anyone got any advice on Chippewa, particularly the service boots and a recommend on sizing?.

I am a 10 US in pretty much everything. The Chippewa Service boots are no different. If I sized a full size down I would never fit in them.

Absolutely agreeing with @JMax here. Do NOT size down on Service Boots! If anything, I wouldn't have done wrong if I bought them half a size larger. If you have wide feet, definitely get them wider. They're narrow. I've had mine for four years now and I'm spending better part of the year wearing them. Great boots but I really wish they'd had different widths where I bought them. But otherwise, cannot recommend them enough.

I’m not familiar with RM boots sizing. I am a 10.5 brannock but a 9.5 in Red wing, Chippewa, and Wesco. I have found European sizing numbers to be the most consistent and useful.

Mate I only wear boots one day then switch to another pair the next day.

Each pair of boots have their own cedar shoe trees .

These are both short lace up boots AND cowboy or Western styles.

I probably have 20+ pairs collected over the last 20+ years.

What I am saying is keep both if they fit well

OK I hear you all, and I may very well keep both. I still want to know which others like the look of more!
The Black Surveryor boots are absolutely hideous and disgusting and should be sold straight away.....to me....if they are depending on how they run, between US size 8.5 or 9. If they are not that size, then they look really freaking beautiful and I would keep both as well. haha

I just received a pair of black Toy's McCoy Surveyor boots. I already have a brown pair of natural waxed flesh Vibergs. I think I'm only going to keep one pair and wondering what you guys prefer.

They're mostly going to be worn with Jeans and my green Tenjin jacket

I think the Viberg are more versatile but the Toys are an asthetic 10. I have been zero help.

Picked up a pair of alden indy 403 brown cxl from snake oil provisions to match my aero brown cxl HH. First pair of alden shoes/boots. Been wearing mainly RW heritage and Clarks desert boots lately. Before that was on a whites then wesco kick.

I like both. I am a captoe fan at heart, but I have to admit that I've been lusting after those Surveyor boots for a couple of years now. Just a great classic shape to them, and nice little extras like the rivet. As others have said, keeping both is the best option, but if I had to choose I would take the Surveyors. Now, if the Vibergs were 310 last, then we'd have a real problem on our hands...

Can I ask how the TMC fit, compared to the Vibergs (or other boots)? I've not had a chance to try them on.

Man these are going to look absolutely great after about a year of wear!

@RiceKnight since you’re so rudely going to keep both and not sell me the Surveyors haha. I do have to say they really are a great looking boot. Classic, yet different enough to be completely unique. I really do enjoy them.
