I do you guys see the Flip-Flop/Suit combination?
I saw it the first time few years ago at a wedding in summer in Europe. One of the guest had this pearl white suit and a dark blur shirt and tie, =....but he was wearing flip flop....! Can that apply to a jacket? Lol

Yeah well, only in California would someone wear flip flops like its warm, and a watch cap like its cold. Not to mention the flannel shirt and nice button up shawl collar jacket. I like his style. The weather changes, and we have micro climates here. Ready for everything, and we can get away with anything here in CA. :)

Normal Walsh trainers here, keeping the British tradition alive handmade in Bolton. Also can’t be leather converse. Boot wise Red wing iron rangers work very well too, must have the right jeans though to really make it work.

I've currently got in circulation- Red wing 'work chukka's' and 'Iron Rangers', some Grenson 'monkey boots', a pair of Eastland 'Otis 1955's', Buzz Rickson '1943 service boots'.... and I know sneakers are often frowned upon, but there is a Slovakian manufacturer called 'Novesta' who have been producing shoes since the 30's, they make a lovely alternative to converse.. they are very similar, but considerably cheaper than the Buzz Rickson 'basketball shoes'...

This thread really evolved nicely! :)

So I placed an order with Brass in Tokyo. Decided to go for their harness boot in vintage black, 9" in height.
It's their classic narrow last, meaning that the basic shape is that of a slim engineer boot and not the classic square toe from harness boots.
So it should be ready in 6 months. It's ok I can survive the wait time... I think :D

So I continue to acknowledge that the forum isn't as western boot centric as me, but I just got a killer pair of custom, handmade Lucchese Ropers that I LOVE! Yeah, they cost about what a new jacket does, but out here, footwear is more usable than most leather jackets...so the collection grows.

Not sure I'd feel comfortable wearing traditional cowboy boots, but Ropers are much less "Western-looking" if that makes sense. I've seen quite a number of pairs that I really like. I have to imagine they are quite comfortable. I really like the zipper option.

Oddly enough, being from Montana, I grew up wearing traditional western boots. It's been an adjustment to move to the lower-heeled Ropers. I've got three pairs now and yes, the zips are really nice at the end of the day!
