Carrying cash for me is a budgeting tool. I have found over the years that it's just too easy to overspend when I carry my credit cards around with me. There's always that self-justifying "emergency" or "must have" item.

These days I carry folding money wrapped around a drivers license and my CCW permit, all held together with a clip. When I'm out of cash I know it's time to hit the bank again to cash a check. Simple and effective.

CCW? You're a man after my own likings! Texas CCW for almost 8 years.

A couple years ago I bought a tri-fold key case--the kind with hanging loops for attaching keys to. I keep my house and office key in it, my work id card, and a 10 or 20. The money usually lasts a week or two. Since I walk to work, church, restaurants, etc. I don't need to carry a drivers license.

When I need to pay for something, or drive somewhere, I bring a 'card wallet' I bought last year. It is very thin, which is why I bought it, and holds 3 cards: mine contains a Visa, a driver's license, and an ATM card.

While carrying two things can be an nuisance, I prefer this system in that, because they are small, they don't put any unwanted bulges in my clothes.

I use a money clip. I had one like in the first photo you submitted, Vintage, but I lost it in Pittsburgh back in 2001. I now use one with a magnetic closure. If there's too much cash, though, the magnets won't hold. That one'll be coming apart soon, so I'll get another; but not magnetic. Since I don't like traveling heavy, maybe one with a card holder. I currently use a business card holder for the debit/MC, AAA and DL cards, and would like to slim down and consolidate a bit further.

I have a checkbook, but I only write checks for bills that I mail. I don't like standing behind someone writing a check at the register, so I refuse to submit anyone else to that. I rarely carry it with me.

I also use a key wallet, and any $50.00s or $100.00s I get go into its zippered pocket. I spend them at a Mopar show and swap meet in Van Nuys or a certain auto- aero- military-bookstore in Burbank.

At the end of the day, whatever coins I have left over go in a porcelain pitcher (about a quart). Every six months, give or take a week or two, I roll the coins and deposit them in the savings account. I usually save $100.00 to $150.00 that way.

I just recently stopped spending singles. After only six weeks, I have about $125.00. Those will also go into savings.
