Five Star Leather Jackets

The Five Star chart and instructions are confusing, however ignore the first jacket size column and look at the second ‘Suitable for Chest’ column, which is in red.
For example: If your chest measures 43-44 inches the chest size of the jacket is 48 ins and this will provide the 4-5 ins of space, which is also known as ‘ease’, to allow for a decent fit.

Of course, this all depends on how accurate Five Star actually are in making their jackets and whether they can work to all the exact measurements they state in their charts.

So if im looking in the red column, does that take into consideration my chest size when layered?

For example my chest size is 43 naked and 46 with a sweater. Should I order suitable for 46-47 which is a Large?

It’s unlikely any size chart would take into account layering because a manufacturer wouldn’t know what you intend to layer a jacket with or how thick it would be.
So, it would seem that all the red column figures are bare chest measurements and what size Cossack jacket you’re likely to be needing will all depend on what you intend to mainly wear underneath it.

If it’s t-shirts or shirts then based on the info and chart you’ve provided Five Star appear to be suggesting a size ‘S/40’ jacket. However, if it’ll be layered with sweaters then it looks you’d probably want an ‘L/44’

Of course, as said previously, all the above is only based on the info that Five Star supply and also that their jackets are accurately made, with the measurements of what you actually end up receiving being the same as in their size charts.

Yes. The best thing you can do, really, is figure out how much space you like to have in a jacket and how you want it to fit, therefore the size the jacket itself needs to be. I have jackets labelled from 42 up to 50, all of which fit me well, but with wildly varying size numbers depending upon manufacturer. When it comes to the jacket itself, I know I prefer a jacket with 26" p2p if I want to wear it with just a shirt or shirt and waistcoat underneath (*sometimes* I can get away with 25" if it's not much tapered otherwise), and 27" or 28" p2p if I want to be able to wear it more as an overcoat, with significant layering underneath. Concentrating on the size of the actual jacket itself is far more helpful than blindly trusting that the seller-s estimate of the size of person who best fits into it is the same as yours. This is something I have learned the hard way.

If a seller exclusively sells in letter- sizing (S /m/ l/ xl/ **l et cetera) without any kind of measurement guidelines, I won't buy from them without the opportunity to try on in person. Just not worth the hassle if it doesn't work out. Equally, if I am not sure I can trust the seller to be accurate with their measurements (or if stated measurements are too near the knuckle to risk them being off by an inch or two), I won't buy from them absent the opportunity to try on the exact jacket I'm looking at in person.

Avi jackets are made in Pakistan but I’ve heard some praises here on the forum..
AVI and 5Star are both made in Pakistan and both companies are fantastic at making specific A-2 contracts.......but their other designs are hilarious to look at (usually the cuff is silly narrow compared to the sleeve width and the shoulder width is like a 1980s Mall Jacket)
It's like they got a badly grainy photo of a 1980s Jacket and tried to size the chest sizing up and down without a tailor altering the overall proportions of the Jacket

Yep I prefer to stay away from them altogether.. I did buy a marine jacket from five star and it was horribly made and the fit was even worse. Smelled like a rubber tire too lol.. maybe for a starter jacket but I wouldn’t pay more than $150 for either of those jackets
