My Vanson in competition weight has simular scars ....I king of like it ( it adds character) .Hi friends,
I’ve been lurking and browsing the forum posts because I think leather jackets are very stylish and cool! I decided to purchase my first leather jacket and after some cursory research, I thought Fivestarleather is a good choice for a budget starter option. I went ahead and placed my order back in mid February, and got an email yesterday that my jacket is ready to ship. They sent me a few pictures of the finished product. I was wondering if these two long marks on the jacket are normal? I apologize ahead of time for my lack of knowledge.
It would probably go a lot better if you ordered the Aero jacket you want from Aero. The jacket I'm picturing is basically an Aero sheene, but with the hem of a highwayman (the horizontal stitch line just above the bottom) without the sidebuckles. And a slight, 10° angle to the chest pocket. Hopefully this goes well!
As soon as you start talking about a 10 degree angle I know you will be disappointed by anything you get from five star lol.Pretty new to leather jackets, and I'm thinking about ordering a custom from Fivestar. I want a jacket that fits me personally, and I like their black hides well enough from the photos.

Although I haven’t tried it on goatskin (I’ve used it on both horse and steer hide) Renapur Leather Balsam might well give you the finish you’re looking for on your jacket.I thought about applying a layer of beeswax to the jacket to give it a certain shine. Anyone’s ever done that with goatskin? Where you happy with how it turned out?
£1264 is outside of my budget. But hopefully in the future. And I've never found an off the rack leather jacket that has fit me quite right, so going thrifting is not an option or at the very least it would be like finding a needle in a haystack. I need long sleeves, 27.2"-27.5", in a size 42.It would probably go a lot better if you ordered the Aero jacket you want from Aero.
Surely they know how angles work!As soon as you start talking about a 10 degree angle I know you will be disappointed by anything you get from five star lol.
I don’t want to crap on 5 Star. They do make affordable products and some are decent. But I wouldn’t hold your breath about them understanding angles haha. If you’re going custom you have to provide every single measurement you could possibly imagine and dial it in within like .01cms. I wish that were hyperbole but based on the hundreds of posts and the builds from people who really know what they are doing…….if you leave anything to chance or their judgement it will come out wrong. Not to scare you and I am super price conscious myself….so I understand…….just make sure you know what you’re doing. Or be ok with some differences in expectations. You’ll either get exactly what you want, or a cheaper mistake. The used market is always out there. Best of luck.£1264 is outside of my budget. But hopefully in the future.
