Thessaloniki is much smaller and MUCH more layback than Athens. I prefer it but I also understand that Athens is tempting if it would be the first visit to Greece. I am regularly in Thessaloniki because of family so I guess I have a different approach.

And don´t tell all that to your GF, obviously. Stick to the first comment.
She said yes! (Yes we're going to Thessaloniki lol)

Great place, like most cities with a harbour! Food is also excellent; much better than your regular Greek restaurant abroad.

My wife actually loved meeting Thedi and Alexandra. She’s absolutely not into leather, but the hospitality, dedication and utter friendliness convinced her within seconds.

I'm seriously considering a road trip to Thessaloniki from Bulgaria on my next business trip. Of course, my wife would murder me and then @ton312 would get a PM from "me" asking if I would take all 12 of my jackets off my dead body for $1,000 shipped.

A group I was with drove from Sofia to Thessaloniki about 8 years ago. It was in summer and there was an uncharacteristic heatwave in the region. The drive was a lot longer than the cab drivers told us they would be and much of the highway once we entered Greece was in disrepair (it was during the period of austerity). I had heatstroke and spent much of the time in the city feeling like I was going to throw up. My colleagues did eat at a very nice (and well air conditioned) restaurant with a view of the water just down the block from where Thedi is located (not that I knew that at the time.) It was a very long day trip.

They've been building a new highway, at least on the Bulgaria side, which will make the trip even quicker now.

For some weird reason, the stitching on the collar makes me happy. I have the zig-zag stitching on my Cossack Thedi jacket and I keep on lifting the collar to look at the stitching.
