Fit Check Thread for Jackets

Got this absolute tank of a (long) pea coat repro by Buzz Rickson.
Here it is with a ton of layering (long sleeve merino, thick denim shirt, thick wool sweater).
Thoughts on the fit? 1-10?
I can definitely concede that it's not a slim fashion fit, but for a vintage/classic fit without looking grossly oversized?

Oversized? not even close imo, I would even say you could go up a size and it would still look great(like the A2 leather jacket I do think this military style looks best when not super slimmed).

I would give it a strong 7, maybe a 8 even

I have the exact same pea coat that I ordered directly from Japan (Rodeo Japan Pine Avenue). Buzz Rickson make two versions; the short (hip length) coat and this one (above knee length). I'm 6'1 (186 cm) tall and feel that the shorter version, while traditional, looks a bit awkward/unbalanced compared to the longer length. Plus, this version has two extra corduroy-lined side pockets and a nicer 100% wool flannel lining.
On you, this coat looks great! My observation is that it looks better and is more comfortable buttoned up (pulls in the waist a bit giving a more tailored look). Unless it's blowing a gale, I would avoid raising the collar fully, as it gives a "turtle peeking out of it's shell" appearance. A scarf would look better. Crazy stiff fabric to wear but elegant cut and silhouette. Extra points for pairing with olive fatigues (Army and Navy )!

I'm much more used to lean and short jackets (focusing on leather ones of course) therefore the roomy coat is hard to swallow. The extra room does make it extremely future proof compared to all of my other jackets - I could still wear it in 20-30 years even if I gain 10-20 kg along the way.

I'm glad I went for this longer version (BR14146), couldn't be happier with the product as a whole. The extra hand warmer pockets and the wool lining really elevates it above any other pea coats I've seen and I like the longer length as well.

I also feel that it looks better when buttoned up, but I rather love the collar up look as long as it's not fully buttoned up. When button up and collar up then yeah, full turtle mode haha.

This coat is an excellent alternative to your shorter, slimmer leather jackets. The pea coat is a paragon of masculine style and just looks so weighty and substantial. Completely different vibe from leather.

So, here's another interesting aquisition.

From the listing:
This vintage wool greatcoat was used by the Canadian Navy from the end of World War II to the early Cold War.
Made of dark navy to almost black Melton wool, this coat is heavy and prioritizes warmth.
The inside is fully quilted, making it warmer than it looks.
The contractor label "GORDON CAMPBELL / VANCOUVER, CANADA" remains on the inside, confirming that it was supplied by a long-established company in Vancouver on the West Coast.
Based on the tag specifications and details, this piece is estimated to be from the 1950s-60s.

How does this one look on me? The sleeves seem a bit too roomy for me, especially in the elbow and wrist area. They could also be slightly longer.
Not sure how I feel about the shoulder pads!
Apart from that it's very close to what I was hoping for.

Fit seems so-so for me. If it were me, I'd try to get rid of some of the wrinkles by gently steaming the coat and also flattening the lapel.

It's a dressier coat so these minor details matter, at least to me.

Fit question…I decided to dress up for the office today without going full suit. This Todd Snyder sport coat is one of my favorites.

I had it tailored in at the waist non-aggressively to clean up the fit a few years ago before having kids. Now I’m about 15-20 lbs heavier and it feels a little snug now. However I can still button it and move my arms around. It just doesn’t feel as comfortable. My goal over this summer is to shed about 10lbs.

Can I get someone’s opinions of how it looks? Can I wear it as is or does it pull enough to warrant having my tailor let the waist out a little bit?

You can get away with it, you can tell there is pressure on that button but it is not excessive. If you plan to lose weight, I wouldnt modify it until that journey is over and then re-assess.

Received my customized Aero premier Halfbelt in brown Vincenza HH today. My first jacket was a original Highwayman in size 44 that always was a bit too big in every dimension and didn't fit my ) (-shaped torso all that well.
This Halfbelt is a heavily modified size 44 again with 1 Inch added across the shoulders and 2 inch subtracted across the hem to avoid the wide flare this cut tends to have in my eyes.
The back-length was also shortened to 25,5 Inch despite me being 6'7, as I have a short torso and I prefer vintage-y jackets to hit roughly at belt level.
The back is modified into a multi panel design to get more out of the cream contrast stitching
I have to say I really quite happy with how it turned out even if it's not perfect - my natural waist (belly button height) is very slim and the Aero halfbelts are still rather boxy by design, even the Premier. Personally, I don't think I could consciously improve the fit that much even if I had the chance for a remake.

The back length adjustment turned out perfect, Fiesar. All around the length looks like excellent tailoring. And you were spot-on with the contrast stitching being highlighted with a multi-panel back. Turns out envy shows up in shades other than green!

It billows across the back and buckles at the neck with only the tee shirt. You could probably go down a size. With a bulky layer it should have decent maneuverability. An extra layer will also raise the hem. Looks like it will be a versatile item for your wardrobe.

Solid fit. It is not the super hero super shaped cut, but it looks comfortable, well within fit range without being too big. A size down may look smarter on pictures, but I bet you it wouldn't feel comfortable and how it feels is much more important than how it looks.
