I have really enjoyed reading and learning from everyone's posts, and have been lurking for a few days.
I wore an old Borsalino Alessandria that I got in a thrift shop 25 years ago, a pretty good hat that kept my head warm every winter, and it only cost me 15 bucks. It was significantly more stylish than a baseball cap. I didn't revere it like a holy relic, but grabbed it by the pinch, rolled it up and put it in my back pocket, never brushed it or cleaned it, even sat on it when the ground was wet. After years of abuse, it had a hole in the pinch big enough to fit a golf ball through, so I decided to replace it, and ordered the same (?) hat from Bencraft. It looked like my hat, but the difference in quality was disheartening. So I am going to order an HST from Art Fawcett, which I will treat with the appropriate respect. And I suppose I will treat my new Alessandria like it was an old ball cap.
Cheers, and thanks for all the info you guys share.
