Thanks for that, 25% is pretty prohibitive. Keep us posted on whether disputing the charges works. Anything I buy from there would have been originally made in the US (albeit 70 years ago) but imagine FedEx probably aren't into the nuances of the vintage jacket market. Not only is the 15% being enforced, FedEx, one of the few shippers available through FromJapan, will slap on additional ~10% processing charge onto the bill. Thus, you pay for what looks like reasonable shipping up front and get hit with a bill for another approximately 25% about 3-4 weeks later.
I tried out buying a Lost Worlds jacket a couple of months ago and having FromJapan indicate on the invoice that it’s made in the USA. (Theoretically, re-patriating a USA-made product shouldn’t incur any tariffs.) I still got a customs bill from FedEx several weeks later. When I called to dispute the charge, one of their customer service reps agreed with me that no tariff should be due, but I had to send an email to formally request the fees be rescinded. I got a form response back that it would take 90-180 days for a decision to be reached. We’ll see.
