I've been looking at that one for a while, but I keep getting tripped up by the label. "Tauber" instead of "Taubers." Has anyone ever seen that before?

Why some labels say TAUBER and others say TAUBERS​

1. The company name vs. the brand name​

The original company was run by the Tauber family in California.
Historically, they used both forms:

• “Tauber” – used more as a brand name or fashion label
• “Taubers” – used more as a trade / company name

This wasn’t unusual in mid-century American manufacturing.
Many companies switched between possessive and non-possessive forms in their branding.

Examples from other brands:

• “Levis” vs “Levi Strauss”
• “Schott” vs “Schott NYC”
• “Brooks” vs “Brooks Leathers”

Tauber did the same thing.

2. Label differences by era​

From studying surviving jackets and collector archives:

1950s – Early 1960s​

They commonly used:

• “TAUBER LEATHERS” (like your label)
• and
• “TAUBERS” or “TAUBERS OF CALIFORNIA”

Both appear on confirmed original mid-century jackets. My 1959 model has same label. This Jacket likely early 1960s?

These are the four speed ones i believe. mine (denim pattern) fit large, 34 fits like a 38. High quality though

I have a Type 3 IH HH, and it is a 4-speed.

Not sure how accurate this description is - if this is the lakeland company in the UK it could be that old. Very interesting pattern, tagged 42, runs small. Cheap ($100 BIN) so might be worth a try for someone

50’s HH Excelled. Nice jacket but not $500 nice. I had one in brown. Super thick painted horse. Great pattern. Somewhat sloppy construction. Cool though.

Those are basically interesting jackets in poor quality leather. The shoulder was gone.

It is cowhide, not steerhide. My error. I have one like this. They are cool jackets, they are short as most CSC MC jackets are. This one appears to be in decent condition.
