Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

Stunning. Best part is that this is pretty much the jacket I spec'd as my last LW, down to every last detail, including the A-2 style epaulets. I truly would get it instantly, alas...

Those import charges are ghastly. I think the seller will deal. The jacket has been for sale for awhile and I recall he has lowered his asking price a bit. It may make it all more digestible. But then again, probably not. Damn.

Whatever I do at this point, I absolutely have to add $150 minimum for anything from the US. Shipping is no longer possible under $70-80 while import charges are unavoidable.

Not to forget PayPal currency conversion fees, which are always...on the high side.

That and this is just import tax, there's also another taxation of some sort they add here, which isn't shown on eBay so that's another %15 on the price. I literally no longer browse US eBay.

Nuts. The starting point is so high that even having it proxied is not worth it. That's a shame.

Me neither. Most of the stuff I find on eBay is already overpriced. And if I do find something that looks like a deal, all these indirect costs will spoil the party.

Edit: I wonder why shipping to Europe has to be so expensive. If I ship something from europe to the US, I pay €29 if its under 2kg. €49 2-5 kg.

That’s why I keep saying I really only like to deal here or some FB groups I’m in. With all the fees and shipping eBay is more or less a scam these days. I did just get a good deal on something we all know it’s not impossible; but it just makes me appreciate this space much more.

Sold a few pairs of shoes via ebay to international buyers (Japan, Canada) a month or so ago and was surprised to find USPS shipping costs increased for 2021. Both were expensive to ship. Shoes were somewhat heavy, new in box so double boxed, I anticipated a high price, but it was higher.

@tmitchell59 I thought this might be of interest to you. Check out the label. It is missing the belt but super cool Police jacket.

I have not seen this label. I assume a retail store and not the maker. A rather odd police jacket. I've never seen another quite like it. The pockets, the placement of them, the length, the belt loops. I thought it was too odd for consideration given the price. I'm now thinking it could be made Monarch of Milwaukee. The back has the look

I will keep posting this until someone does the MORAL thing and buys it. lol. What a beauty. Seller will deal.

I keep looking and hoping it will fit me.

This one I will fit and I do want. Notice it is Chrome Tanned Cowhide! I have three others all Chrome Tanned Steerhide! Hope I get to see the difference.

I'm wearing mine now. Here is a pic from earlier in the day...

You will be ecstatic if you purchase this Sportclad. No exaggeration, one of the nicest leather jackets around. Modern or vintage.

Looking very good. I agree, these are as nice as you will find, new or old. There are many vintage jackets I would say the same about.

Not a real find but could be a perfect Summer jacket (fit would be perfect for me) and despite the ongoing discussions I think this Himel Avro is a cool white-black Shinki HH jacket and for sure not everyone's taste.

This is the Himel I would get. Beautiful. Wearable art. My concern is that if I wear it on my blacked out white bike, with my black and white helmet, it may be too matchy matchy. Though I do have murdered out helmets to offset it all. The things I think about.

BTW, there is no link to the sale, are you keeping it to yourself? I certainly would lol.

There's been a number of vintage Bates flat tracker cafe racers showing up lately...here's another one. So cool!

I love this sort of stuff too and the battle scars make it even cooler... but sadly most are only good for wall art as these leather jackets are very short and tight fitting by design and riders back in the day (and still today often) were normally built like jockeys - smaller, lighter guys have an advantage in racing! So most folk these days would struggle to fit in them... this ones only 18” chest, 14” waist... such a shame as I love the green colour. Still the pricing is pretty hopeful on this one...
