TBH, both of these Thedi jackets are pretty ugly. First one looks like a part of an drunk dude at a flea market somewhere in Eastern Europe uniform and the second jacket could've been sold by Urban Republic.

I was thinking about that and wondering, are Thedi jackets losing their value over time because they have an edge of "fast fashion"?
If you look at Aero, LW, Vanson, Lewis, Schott, Langlitz, all these guys are basically doing the same thing over and over, with very few changes over the decades.
There are very few differences between what these companies did 20 years ago and what they do now.

Thedi on the other hand is constantly changing his style, one year it's all about canvas and leather mix, one year he adds 80's padding everywhere, one year he puts these stitched extension panels on most styles, the guy is basically creating new collections that are replaced every year or so.

This i think is the reason his designs don't have that timeless thing that some other have.
Looking at a Lewis Universal Racer, you would never guess the design is 100 years old.
Looking at a Langlitz Columbia you would never guess it was designed in 1947.
IMO most Thedi designs look like they are out of the 80s or 90s, they don't age as well.

That's it, yep.

Aero is making well established classics, they don't stray from their path and that's what they're all about, regardless how we may feel about it and you know what you're buying when you buy an Aero and that it's something that's always going to hold some of its worth.

Thedi is all over the place. They're getting a lot better lately but some of these old jackets that pop up on eBay are pretty horrid looking. Like the two examples above. But they're switching to a classic design too more and more with some of the unique touches which is very nice.

And I think from an objective standpoint, the jackets in the photo you've posted are a LOT nicer than the ones in the earlier links and anyone can see that. I do believe that when a jacket doesn't want to sell for a long time, it's simply because it's dirt ugly.

Harsh, but it's definitely true that Thedi are making much more stylish jackets these days.

It's one of those cases where it'd actually be wiser to save up enough money for a new, nice Thedi jacket than to buy one of those two, which is something someone just might do just 'cause of the name on the tag.

Yes, thought as much when I saw the roller buckle side adjusters (I think even the Cidu people would've used something better than those though.)

The pockets, corduroy and labeling all seem based after the Mister Freedom Campus so maybe thats what the seller meant.
When you read the description, seller doesn't clame it's a MF jacket. He only says it's in the style of a classic campus jacket.

Same for the title. It says it's like a MF of LVC jacket. ( 'Wie' means 'like' in German)

I think there's more to it. Thedi used to be a large volume operation. Back in 1999 Thedi had 200 retail outlets in Greece. I strongly doubt the jackets they sold back then were on the same quality level as the jackets they make today. I think at some point they changed their business model, from making low/medium quality jackets to what they do today.

Thanks for clearing this up Marc! I think this clears up a lot...

Thanks. I was going by where it says "Marke: Mister Freedom" but good to know it says its not in the description.

This is super-rare and on my radar screen. If it was a 38 or a 40, I'd buy it now. There was one out of Japan a year ago for $450, my size, but the sleeves were 22-in. I had the guy re-measure, and still 22-in. Lol. I had to pass.

Was that the kinda burnt orange / brown Horsehide one with Riri zips? I tried to buy it but the seller told me it had already been sold elsewhere and removed the listing.

Don't remember the zips, but it was pumpkin color. Beautiful jacket, but I did not want to risk 22-in sleeves. Looks like two of us are looking for the same rare jacket - good luck to both of us!
