Nice jacket, Nice price..

Oh wait..

The postage.

Gets me every time.

That and the open seam on the sleeve cuff. You'll see Johnson Leathers jackets for around $200-400, needing a repair like that, I'd have to knock about $50 off that. It'd be reasonable with free shipping if you can fix that seam economically.

I don't get some eBay Sellers and their oddball shipping philosophies. I thought eBay took 10% of all the money exchanged including shipping?? If so, the whole 'price the item reasonable and jack up the shipping costs to make more money' is really just jacking up the whole price of the purchase. So its not like they're being shrewdly sneaky. I can understand if a listing's International shipping is high. But this JL Seller is an hour away from me and the eBay adjusted shipping is over $20. For CONUS shipping, most jackets can be sent ANYWHERE for roughly $20 in a USPS Flat Rate "Board Game Box" and regional shipping (non flat rate) can be cheaper depending on how close the Seller is to the Buyer. For anyone who ships regularly, seeing these exorbitant shipping rates is a slap in the face.

BTW--I have this same jacket size 44-46 in better overall condition except that it has half a dozen or so pin holes in the left upper chest [STOP Putting Pins on your leather jackets People!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:]. Its a heavy, well made jacket for sure. It seems like only the "sharps" know about JL. They do great work.

You guys are really mad about $30 shipping for a 7 or 8 pound item? In my experience, when you tack on signature confirmation and insurance at your own cost, which I always do for items over $150, you’re going to be near 30 bucks at the very least, especially if you ship that jacket in a nice size box. Believe me, you wouldn’t want that jacket stuffed into a priority mail medium or large flat rate box.

Good Point. I personally don't have an issue with getting what you pay for. My gripe is when you pay $46 for shipping per the listing, and the shipping comes stuffed in a box with a postal label containing a price tag that says $12.30. IF you are actually paying a high price AND the Seller is truly taking care of your item and getting added insurance and signature confirmation, that is totally fair and a stand up seller. I just don't experience that as much as I do paying the high price and seeing the Seller profited from the shipping cost. The Flat Rate boxes you can ship up to 70 lbs so weight shouldn't be an indicator of shipment costs in that case. Don't get me started on California collecting sales tax on used clothing. Lol....It all adds up. ;)

Agree. I think we all know there are different classes of shipping. In this particular case, the listing says:-
US $44.03
United States
Economy Shipping (USPS Parcel Select Ground®)
No mention of insurance. It would be safe to assume the seller will have stated insured shipment if it indeed is insured since it is added value. Having said that, the seller may have to drive 20 miles to the nearest post office and decides that the costs of the gas should be included in the shipping in stead of being added to the value of the jacket.:D

Oh interesting. We’re all getting different shipping quotes. Mine is $32.
I always list with a stated Flat Fee for shipping because I generally use Flat Rate so its always going to be the same price. I believe that the shipping quoted by eBay if it's not listed as a Flat Fee is dependent on your location and the distance between you and the Seller. The Seller is close to me so I have the cheapest rate quote (of the 3 of us talking about this) when I view the listing. I could be mistaken so if anyone can clarify, feel free to jump in. We all should know these things about eBay.
