Interesting and cool CZ cop jacket. Front handwarmer pockets look Cal-like.,,,could be a Californian..........What is interesting to me is the main zipper. It has a TALON base and what LOOKS like a Crown/C&C track. Maybe it is a Talon track but it looks a lot to me like a Crown. The two are not compatible that I know of so I don't think they can be mixed and matched. Base and Pull look to be Talon.

Friend, That is an early star glove/Cal jacket. The zip on the jacket is a Talon. That is the best talon in my book. If you closely, the teeth on this particular talon are currently replicated in modern "plastic " zippers like the ones in used in heavy duty jackets/parkas such as the north face and others. Personally, I have them in several Cals only. Langlitz also used some of them. I know Durable used this type of zipper in the wild one jacket used by Brando.

Here are some samples for comparison

@photo2u You sir are the zipper GuRu!!! Those are some beauties!! I can see the difference between the Crowns/C&Cs and Talons now when placed side by side. I haven't seen this Talon that I can recall. I have seen that PaperClip pull, but not the base with the word TALON on it. I meant to tag you on this as I know you know your zippers. Thanks for posting these Zipper Porn pics!!

Friend, the Milne brothers were motorcycle legends in my home town of Pasadena. Actually, they were many famous motorcyclist living in Pasadena. The Milne brothers had their shop very close to my house on Colorado Blvd. The jacket is a Cal. made for them to sell at their shop. Cal also made jackets for a a very popular brand used by Law enforcement public servants in Montebello California. I think it was called Montebello united Uniform apparels? or something to that effect. However, those Montebello made jackets were top of the line horsehide fine samples made for the public servant community.

@photo2u My family used to own the gas station at 1010 E. Washington Ave. on the corner of Catalina and E. Washington..... we owned the two houses surrounding the gas station also and my uncle lived in one of the houses. We used to visit frequently.

Unrelated but I bought a Cafe Racer that was originally from a shop in Alhambra that is no longer there. ... It was called ENDURA and it went out of business I believe in the late 70s....... I was able to track down the old location. Not sure if they made their own jackets but its the only jacket I have that has #10 Robin Zippers not only as the main, but as the sleeve zips! Pretty Fat zippers for Sleeve Zips! Here is a link to pretty much the same jacket I have. Mine is more Suzuki colors with the Gold being more of a Maize/Carmel Gold.

Wow, That jacket is nice. Love those cat eyes. You know, One of my first job was at the Pasadena Mental Health center. which is located on Lake two block north of the gas station. My boss was one of my mentors. Her husband was doctor who worked across the street. We were funded by grants from Pacific Clinics. That couple help me out a lot. I grew up in Okland Ave. I purchased my first house and moved to the opposite end of your location off Michillinda and Colorado. Close to Arcadia and south of Sierra Madre. Are you still in Los Angeles County?

The jacket is a decent looker and seems pretty well made. Probably cow or steerhide. The sleeves though are about 3" too long and I have pondered getting them shortened but the sleeve zippers sorta complicate things.

I am now living in Northwest San Diego County, but we still have gas stations in LA so I go up there at least a few times a month for work. I was born in Arcadia (Arcadia was where the "classy" hospital was lol) -- My parents are from El Monte and I lived there til I was 3 then we moved to Diamond Bar and then to Murrieta. My education eventually brought me to San Diego and I stayed here in North County.

I went to El monte High! Home of the lions. Cool. We must get together. I often ride to Tijuana. You know, there is a gent who is very talented. He works mainly with racing jackets. I love the way he works. Often the zipper is not a problem in repairs. Does the jacket sleeves a two or three piece? If is a three piece, the repair is very simple really.

My parents and several aunts and uncles are ALLLLL LIONS!!!! My uncle who is 86 just had his I think 65th Year Class Reunion held at El Sombrero on Santa Anita Ave. late last year!! My parents went also. Its a combined years event nowadays because so many people have passed away. I think my uncle was Class of 57 and my Dad is Class of 63 or 64 and my Mom is a year younger so she was Class of 65 I think. Everyone went to El Monte High except my younger aunt and uncle who were quite a bit younger and went to Mountainview. My Dad still talks about THE PIT and TITO's and other El Monte spots. His first gas station was in El Monte but I am not sure where exactly. Small world man!!!

Rush and Tyler, Very close to the original El Monte High. The old high school was the only school in the area for many years. It served people from far and wide. Tito's I think still going strong. I did not go there that much because it was always crowded. LOL. You know, I worked at Crawford's. That was my very first job. Cleaning the meat department.

I noticed that the jacket is a two part jacket. The repair is much more expensive. Not good.
