Dude!!!! This is a TRAVESTY how little respect Branded gets....... you can't buy a freakin' Windbreaker at Walmart for that price..... (OKAAYYYYYYY you probably CAN....but it would suck and you KNOW it would!!o_O) Very underrated jackets IMO.

I agree, Branded should have more of a reputation than they do, BUT they chose a fairly stupid name for their brand. "Awesome jacket! What brand is that?" "Branded." "Yeah, what brand though?" "It's Branded." "Right, nothing that good would be an un-branded jacket." "Quite so." "Who's on second?" "No, I told you, Who's on first." I believe this hurts their recognition, or at least muddies search results for their name in the internet age. Anyone searching for branded leather jacket is likely to find Schott branded jackets, Dainese branded jackets, Alpine Stars branded jackets, Langlitz branded jackets, Vanson branded jackets...

Also, the seller in this case seems to be a chain of stores called The Exchange, which if it's the The Exchange that I'm familiar with, is basically a pawn shop for movies, video games, and music, so it's pretty weird to see them selling a leather jacket at all. Probably they have no idea it's actual value, and are trusting the market to set the price, which is what you want as a buyer, not at all a travesty.

Pretty well stated here Guppy. Names, and "brands" do indeed have a lot of meaning.

Very close to where I grew up in East Central Illinois, there were two car dealerships that chose to use thier famiy name. Given the name, it might have been advisable to choose otherwise:
  • Rust Chevrolet Inc - Cissna Park, IL
  • Stallings Ford, Inc - Fithin, IL
However both are still active dealerships today.

Lol.... I've posted this same rant before. Exactly. I totally agree. Lol.

I think they thought only of the angle that Cattle are branded and they are making leather so that term translates. Which it does. Only it doesn't market well. They didn't think of it from the BUYERs perspective. From the retail end, it sounds confusing.

Likewise, when I said it was a "travesty" it was not from the Buyer's perspective. But rather from the perspective of the now shuttered business who never got the recognition to stay in business and succeed (not that this wasn't at least partially self inflicted due to their marketing/name etc.). From the educated buyer's perspective, its a STEAL. But for the uneducated newbie, who is liable to see a price -- quality correlation, this jacket will not appeal to that person who may deem it a cheap lower end jacket.

The fact its so cheap and a store like you mentioned is selling it BOTH bode well for a prospective buyer IMO. I agree with you---Good buyer situation all around.

Unlike Chevy Nova, where No Va means Not Going in Spanish...:)

In the early 80s, some company here in the U.S. began marketing a Weight Loss product that was in the form of a chocolate bar like snack. That company had the unfortunate luck of calling their product AIDS.

Annnnnnnnnddddd, yeah. SHOCKER: They aren't around anymore.

Marketing can be the death of a product or business.

LOL, I remember that. Imagine the discussions. Kind of like Corona beer nowadays. Imagine all the effort, dollars, time to market and then your name gets tagged with some medical catastrophe. There's been funny more racier examples as well, but I won't go there

another LOL. I remember a while back a few mentioned Leather Man. The number of hits wasn't the issue in that search so much. You really had to narrow it down to find jackets.
