From the 1949 Sears catalog. Note the leather pulls, the riveted belt loops which are distinctive of Blatt of Chicago. They produce the earliest Sears Mc jackets just a year earlier. The back design changed, dropping a half-belt.

The ebay jacket has a 50s Talon zipper pull, the box would tell more, but probably 1950 with the more updated back design replacing the earlier half-belt. Green lining is more common than the red.

These Blatts were high quality horsehide jackets during this time, 1948-1950. They were soon replaced by California Sportswear, Appalachian, Roughwear as producers of Sears labeled MC jackets.

Yes, the condition plus the era are as close to new as I have seen. I am unsure of the pocket paper? Is it original?

These early wool lined don't show up often, their production ended with the Nylon Lining. All the Wool lined Mc jackets are from this general time frame, 1947-1951, and general true for all makers. Nylon was the "big" thing post-war.

This would be the last of the Blatt models. I have a Wool lined California Sportswear made around this time. Just as they were taking over production. My guess; Blatt could not produce what Sears needed, and the other companies could. That may be so few of these wool lined Hercs appear.

It is always amazing how many very nice condition vintage jackets you can find. This would be Top condition in my book.

yeah I was really shocked when I saw it. Like here is an 80 year old garment that looks totally brand new.

I wonder who nabbed it!
All for less than a new Schott jacket anyone can buy any time….wow! To put that deal in perspective. And there’s no (not judging but…) no comparison.

The jacket would have brought more $$$ at auction. Certainly worth the 1K.

Nice goat halfbelt size 40/42. Missing liner, but zip looks solid:
This jacket has been around for awhile. Certainly looks nice. The wartime V zipper is worth $100 if solid. There have been some other fine goats similar, just not what folks are looking for.

Not sure if I'm sore or relieved to have missed that one. Excellent find.

would love to have an Op Ivy coat, but holy hell that’s a big ask.
That jacket is straight up garbage. There is patina and there is destroyed and this is the later and the jacket wasn't high even quality to begin with. If you fancy this, buy one clean in good condition for like 200 USD and bring in some paint artist to apply similar paint art for another 200 USD.
