Felt hats in the summer

I did a search and couldn’t find anything on this but I’m sure it’s been discussed in the past and I just couldn’t find it. Do any of you wear your felt hats in the summer? I do, as I don’t find straw hats to be much cooler to my head. Some felt hats such as my Akubra Territory is made for the sun. Also I think in the old days most men wore felt year round as straw hats weren’t common. So what do you guys do? Do you wear felt or just stick to straw?

There was a thread just this morning about this...can't recall the title. A number of guys prefer to wear their lighter weight unlined felts in the summer. I am in the Pac NW and our summer is mild and short so wear my Panamas for the 4 - 6weeks of heat we get each year.

This was the work of a minute. There are many more threads on this topic. Maybe we could get a bartender to merge them?

I wear my felts year round. If a cowboy can do it, so can I. :)
I wore this modern Stratoliner today. It was 93* F in my part of South Carolina today. Now on the other had this hat is regulated to yard work and outside chores. It’s sweat stains give it some character.

In a side note, when searching use google and follow up your search with fedora lounge. That’s the best way to find a topic.

I never use the sites search function. Most of us use Google to search:

I wear my Territory much of the time when working outside. But right now the daytime high is hitting 102 so I've switched to my Sunbody 6" Gus until we get back to at least the 80's. The Sunbody is great sun protection with the wider brim, but it's heavier in weight than the Akubra.

I put Beaver felt fedora's away during the summer. But wear my other felt fedora's & wool caps year round. I switch to my Panama hat when Temps get over 90 and the humidity is nasty.
