Wow, talk about animal cruelty. Peta would be all over these people today

Absolutely, and rightly so! I'm not much better myself I think in PETA's eyes as I'm an unrepentent meat eater, but outright cruelty to an animal is really truly awful. I can kinda understand (not condone, obviously!) the guy who shoots a cheating partner and their lover, but somebody who is cruel to a cat for fun.... I just can't see the motivation in that. Cats are superior beings anyhow - let's face it, if they only had opposable thumbs to work a tin opener they'd get rid of us like a shot. OTOH, why keep a human and open tins yourself? lol

A few years ago, I went to an exhibition on the Victorians in the V&A here in London. One exhibit they had was a kittens' wedding - the whole little chapel, wedding party and some guests and the vicar made with little clothes, all stuffed kittens.

I've also seen Victorian jewelry made from stuffed hummingbird heads. At first glance, the necklace that I saw was beautiful. Then I started to realize what it was made from... :(

It's funny you should mention cats being superior beings... My kitty Molly was just informing me yesterday of the same thing. I'm the opposable thumbs that open her food and my husband is her matress... They're the only things we're good for, you know...

But of course.... sigh, to be a cat.... sometimes I do really believe there's a strong strain of feline dna in me already anyhow.... :)

I hate anything frou-frou, there is nothing pink in my house, or lace, or chintz or wall papered. I think frou frou is cute if you are 7 years old....For me, I am in love with rich colors, deep reds, blues, golds, jewel tones. I love anything streamlined and art deco. I am a big fan of chrome and have an obcession with anything electrical and art deco. Radios, lamps, applicances, more radios...hehe. I do like Victorian as well, but in small doses.

I am also a huge fan of midcentury modern and ultra modern, I like it much more then the simular Hollywood regency.

Personally, I think that pink color that you (ohairas) posted originally is fine, especially if accented with proper furniture,as mentioned by someone else.

I think the thing to remember when decorating, and choosing colors, and in life in general is that moderation is key.
Myself, I personally prefer pastels. Oh, to live in a soft, muted, billowy world.

I absolutely and totally agree. Cruelty to any animal is awful.

I could write pages and pages about this subject, but I'll just limit myself to agree with the stament above.

Reminds me of that wonderful saying...

"Dogs have owners, cats have staff" :D

Of course I clicked on the Caveman Room and saw no other. http://www.madonnainn.com/tour/137.asp As I'm hogging the computer my handsome housemate patrick1987 wants me to assure everyone there is no frou-frou here except any he may have brought, but we like the mixable glitter. However, as we are both self-admitted slobs, no projects are in the offing except the (dim future) Oriental Room as mentioned in another long-ago thread. Hey, the house is 87 years old, there's no hurry.

I tend to agree with Barbara Cartland's remark along the lines of 'Why stand when you can sit, and why sit when you can recline?' If we didnt have a tv we could have 3 couches in the front room instead of only 2.

That seems to be a variation on Satchel Paige's line "Don't run when you can walk, don't walk when you can stand still, don't stand still when you can sit down, and don't sit down when you can lie down. And don't look back, cause someone might be gaining on you."
