The strat via Buckaroo Hatters will be a slightly custom version, correcting some things we generally do not like about the generic strat selling retail now. The regular production strat is not a bad hat, but the version we are waiting for will be an improvement - go to the beginning of the thread and read through a few pages; this idea grew out of a FL tour of the Hatco plant in Texas.

Well good sir, I am certainly no expert on vintage Stratoliners, just reporting what I read earlier in the thread with regards to this hat.

jlee -- I was posing the question generally, and not as a criticism. Please accept my apologies if it sounded that way. :)

Having read through the thread, it's not completely clear to me what dimensions were finally decided upon for the crown height and brim width...

Cheers,
JtL

Not certain that we have a definitive answer there anyway, only that it will be more straight crowned, and I think coming open crowned... if indeed it does happen (hate to see it not, as many here are looking forward to it, and a lot of work seems to have been put into the idea).

If I am reading between the lines correctly, the ball is in Hatco's court. Seems they're not keen on making the hat, but may be dragged reluctantly into giving us what we want. I for one still plan a purchase of their current factory issue as well, but am hoping to hold off for a firm decision on this one- in part, because I want one or the other in Silver Belly. If his one comes to pass, I'll get the production model in another color, if not, that one will be SB.

Well tell them I bought a current re-issue Stratoliner just because I found out abut the sale right here on The Lounge. So, this site is generating some sales for them, at least.

I have two new issue Strats and have ordered my third today. Wanted one in grey, black, and silver belly. If the hat made mention in this thread is made and sold, I will for sure want a few in different colors as well. I do not see anything as a negative factor if this hat gets made at all for Hatco. If they make them they well sell without a doubt. If officially they made some statement as to needing some sort of deposit for each order, I would think many here would have their check books out and ready to send in a jiffy.

One thing I do find as odd, other than the Caribou grey new issue Strat, I had to wait for the order to be filled for the other hat purchases, as the stores selling them do not have them in stock, which means Hatco must have had to make them, so....if that be the case, why not make this new "vintage" hat everyone wants?

I don't know the status of Hatco's stock, but because a retailer doesn't have it in stock doesn't mean it isn't readily available to them. I know Henry The Hatter (Detroit) plans to stock these (the production model) in the Fall, in Silver Belly and Black. Might even have them in now, I already knoe their price on it. And I plan to buy one there.

I am sure that they make them in batches though, so if their stock is temporarily out, you may have had to wait for the next run to be made.

This hat will I think be an exclusive to Major Moore's Buckaroo Hatter's, and sold through them. WRT deposit, that's already been asked in this thread and the Major says no issue, no need. He's going to order when able, and will post here asking who wants what size. Keep an eye on the thread in order to be sure not to miss the initial order (subscription to the thread is advisable).

OK, here is our weekly bump. I just spent the money I had saved for my Strat on that Amon Carter "Shady Oak" Open Road so now I have to start all over - LOL!!! Don't worry, I'm sure I'll find the cash if you guys can get me the hat.
