Well, buyer beware. Gripe continued and closed.

Looks like dad is at it again. After questions over my original gripe, here are links to a hat from “dad’s collection” on eBay and from Goodwill earlier in the month.

Well, that answers the questions for me.
That IS the same hat and that is the same language for all Dad’s “collection”.

This is disappointment to me as i have purchased several things from this seller. Not hats but other stuff and have communicated with them in a friendly manner including about Dad’s basically end of life illness.

At minimum there is obvious continual misrepresentation for some 3 years.
At worst “stolen grief” which is despicable human waste!

You forgot step 2.5: Forget what you were doing and drive the care without any oil and burn up the engine.

I only change my own oil because that’s the extent of my mechanic skill set and it makes my wife think I “know about cars.”

I did send him the mesage! I once had a long conversation with him about his Dad's health.

Here it is:
"Hey, I am glad your Dad is doing OK. I saw him buying this hat on Goodwill last week. I think he won it for $21.00"

And adding to that: telling stories is one thing, but cases where the provenance of items are misrepresented can be fraud.

Saying a hat was on display or in a collection for years is guaranteeing something clear about it’s use and condition. If the hat actually came from Goodwill, then the seller is misrepresenting that history and possibly committing fraud.

I've thought about writing to this same guy and telling him to cut the crap about the amount of X's on these hats. I think there was a 12X Cavanagh recently for sale. Really??? For the prices he's asking people would have to be serious about a buying hats, and if you're serious about buying hats then you'd know there isn't a 12X Cavanagh. To me it just delegitimizes himself as a seller.

I would think so but what recourse would there be other than notifying the bay and maybe they'll do something about the seller or invalidating a transaction with the seller.
