For what it is worth, Dr Max and I have looked over quite a few hats virtually and he has always been more than gentlemanly on the ones he knew I was gunning for.

My local hatter fired me as a client and doesn't want me bringing him repair work? Really? Dont't you hate those WTF moments. Last month I took my pure beaver santa fe monticristi hat to my (former) favorite local hat maker, Nathaniels in Georgetown to have him recrease it for me. Then yesterday I dropped by with my Stetson straw Medalist to see if he could sew the sweatband back in where it was coming loose and to enquire about the status of my Monticristi felt. His wife said she would fix the sweat right away and to come back later in the afternoon as she would ask Nate to recrease the hat since he hadn't touched it yet. I come back and the Stetson straw was all stitched up and ready to go. She hands be back the Monticristi and and says Nate couldn't reshape the hat because it wont accept any steam. WTF? I ask why is that and Nate comes out and shrugs his shoulders saying he couldn't do anything with the hat and tells me not to bring in repairs anymore as he is backed up with new hat orders. I have 3 hats from Nataniels and they have done several repairs and recreases over the last couple years. Pretty poor customer service or having a bad day, I left pretty pissed off. So, today I'm wearing my Nathaniels willow one last time before I retire them all to the back of my hat closet. Guess I'll be visiting David at Texas Hatters alot more in the near future.

Plenty of hits & misses with ebay. Then every once in awhile this happens, check the price in 1st photo. Sometimes people just dont know what they have. Actually I Got it for my wife, she hates it, so it's now at VS awaiting a more manly style.

I swore off car repairs and oil changes and the last time it took 2 hours for an oil change. Now I'm back to doing my own again. ..

Don’t feel bad Doug. It used to take me 2 hrs min for an oil change....when i was married!

Step 1. Loosen drain plug
Step 2. Drink beer and listen to ballgame for a few hours to ensure it's thoroughly drained.
Step 3. Finish beer, replace plug. Finish job.

Yeah, that's at LEAST 2 hours.

I meant it took 2 hours, waiting at a professional shop, with an appointment. It never takes me that long, lol.

You forgot step 2.5: Forget what you were doing and drive the care without any oil and burn up the engine.

I only change my own oil because that’s the extent of my mechanic skill set and it makes my wife think I “know about cars.”

It was just listed as a beach hat.....someone didn't have a clue, but when I saw the Equador Monticristi brand listed for that price I just ordered it. It's brand new with a 4" brim. Told Art to go "wyld" with it. Gave him some style idea hats I liked all with 3" brims and taller crowns if possible. Figured I would let him see the hat and figure out what works best for it with the blocks he has in stock. The very last one could be a real winner.

My brother was working on our shared High school transportation car, tune up, carburetor rebuild, etc, and got interrupted by a phone call... finished the call, went outside, closed the hood and drove about 6 miles to town. As he pulled into the parking lot of a store, the engine died. He turned the key and ignited the gas that had been pumping out of the gas line to the carb for the past 6 miles. He had forgotten to tighten the line.

The car was a total loss, and only insured for accidents involving other vehicles. Man, was Dad hot!

All look great to me. I agree that the last would be something special. You have a lot of real estate to work with and the weave looks to be very high.
