Do Ladies notice a Man's shoes?

Europeans get a pass on this rule of thumb.

So, hmm... yeah.

That's too bad! I keep my shoes pristine, and am good friends with the local cobbler at that.

How anyone can not be familiar with a cobbler mystifies me. I suppose that's what happens when most folks spend most of their time in gutties. [huh]

Here's a reply from the other side: I'm a fella, and I notice whether a lady keeps her leather pumps, flats, loafers, lace-ups, or sandals well-polished and maintained. I'm curious to know how many of the Lounge ladies polish their own shoes (or have others do it for them) on a regular basis, if at all.

Well, it's summer and I tend not to wear leather shoes in summer, but generally my leather shoes get polished once a month. A tin of kiwi and a pair of brushes is a boot's best friend!

Likewise. I also have a suede brush for suede shoes.

I also have a suede brush. Do some people not?

I do polish my shoes about once a month. I have a suede brush, but not a suede shoe.

Also, I love loafers on women (like the Bass Weejun type). Maybe it's because I grew up in the 80's; but a feminine woman in a dress and those is just super cute to me.

I was considering this, because of them being cooler, and of course I would wear them with socks. Shoes are meant to be worn with socks, in my opinion.

I just wasn't sure if they'd be too 'old guy' with jeans. Maybe that's only the case if I had ironed creases in them lol

Lizzie, I would never consider wearing tassles on anything! haha!

They may be cooler to wear than the boots but I would stick with the boots! Love the look of a guy in cow boy boots. :D

I can't say that I pay any attention to the shoes a guy is wearing unless he has on flip flops (this is Florida after all) and has nasty ole dirty feet. :p

My experience is the same - they've always handed them off to me for shining! Or I couldn't stand to look at them another minute looking like Our Gang Depression Shoes.

I notice a man's shoes when I'm walking up the stairs in my office building, and that's because my eyes are cast downward so as not to trip. If his shoes are interesting, then I'll look back to see the rest of the man. If his shoes are uninteresting, I cast no judgement, but don't risk a face-first-on-the-cement-stairs to check it out. :)

I notice a man's shoes all the time. Flip-flops are so wrong. The only exceptions I can see is if you are at the beach, the pool, or in a public shower. I swear, we are going to have a whole generation of people with foot, leg, and back problems because of flip-flops. Athletic shoes are fine for men in jeans or shorts, and seem tasteful for some things.

The one thing that I absolutely notice is the details on the man. I like men who like their men's jewerly, specifically ties, tie tacks, nice watches, nice cigarette cases, etc. If you don't wear a vest or are going to be taking your jacket off, please wear a tie tack. Your tie does not look good in your soup.

I also am a big fan of cowboy boots. As long as they're not the boots you wear out to the barn, why not? Scruffed up cowboy boots with jeans, polished with suits. I've seen three piece suits worn with "dressier" cowboy boots that looked absolutely wonderful, and I think with the right pair of boots you could even wear a tux (to the right place). As long as you're not a poser, and have the right attitude, I think you could pair boots with anything. (Although, this is probably proof that you can take the girl out of the country but not the country out of the girl, more than anything else. :) )

I always take notice of men and women's shoes. As stated, they do say alot about the person wearing them in how they are cared for and worn. Not really too picky on style as long as it suits the person and compliments the rest of the outfit. I do love motorcycle boots and cowboy boots on a man though. Wingtips after dark make my heart flutter a bit too.
Yes I have a suede brush, shoe cleaning/detailing kit and also visit the shoe repair man in town quite a bit. I assumed everyone did.

I will keep that in mind. Cowboy boots are fairly popular here, much moreso than loafers. I only ever wore them when I worked in retail. 8 hours running across a store in cowboy boots=one bad day!

Agreed!

My grandpa told me, back in the 30's, when he'd get new shoes, the first thing he'd do is scuff them up. If you showed up in the neighborhood with new shoes, you'd get beat up!
I'm really surprised by this. My mother would throw a fit the minute any of my shoes didn't look perfect, so it's ingrained into my brain.

As Merle Haggard said "leather boots are still in style for manly footwear, beads and roman sandals won't be seen" "In Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA"
You must live in rural California, because where I grew up (the L.A. area) men still wear leather shoes.

And for all that's holy, avoid tassels or kitlies unless you want to look like a preening '80s executive.

Wouldn't want that................

I hate to admit it, but I do notice shoes on a man. It's one of the first things I notice (that and hair!). I wouldn't really be able to tell you what I am looking for when I see them. A man well traveled?

If I ever see a guy wear shoes that I absolutely hate, it drives me crazy. I will have a riot in my head. lol Then I try to remind myself there's more to a guy than his shoes. :)

BTW, to Rue (the smile face reminded me).

I noticed on another thread you were mentioning about the new smileys. I have to agree with you. The new smileys are hard to see. :p I can't tell the difference between a smile, confused face, a sad face, a eek face, or a tongue face anymore. Boooo....

I know. When the posts go up, they don't look right with the new smileys. Everything kind of blends together.

Although thanks for that suggestion. That does help.

I agree but that seems to be the price of progress........Who wants to live in the past?......Wait, did I actually say that out loud on the Lounge......

lol! How could you say such a thing? ;) I think I'll throw my shoe too (a size 8 1/2), just as long as I get it back. I don't think my shoe could hurt anybody though. They are not very heavy.
