Let's hope so, dispite what my research turned up - that it was discontinued and being replaced with something else (Gran Rerserva or somesuch - I am far too lazy to re-look it up again right now).

Nice to see it's over doubled in price... (38 pounds is over US $80, yes?)

It's good, but not THAT good...

Nevertheless, many thank yous for the heads-up.

Hey,

At today's exchange it's closer to $60, but still much more expensive. It seems that most alcohol is much more expensive over here. At least as much in £££ is it is in dollars, as a rough guide.
Most places seem completely out of it by now, apparently it was stopped being made a couple of years back. One gentleman I spoke even went as far as to speculate why he thought it "failed".

Anyway I managed to pick up a couple of miniatures to try.

So I had a few hours spare before my flight on Thursday and so I thought I'd stroll over to "The World of Whiskys". I got talking to the very helpful chap running the shop and the subject of the Cigar Malt came up. He said that the it had been replaced because of the recent increase in "negative" connotations regarding cigars, shame that.

Any way he had the Gran Reserva and offered me some. My verdict:

It is rather similar, I'd probably say n balance 80% similar. It still have the tobacco after taste (reminds me of the smell of fresh "Black & Brown" [my pipe tobacco]). So if you are looking for a substitute I think this is about as far as you are going to get.

Yeah, I figured we were in for a lousy replacement as mentioned here:

The company called it "due to consumer issues concerning The Dalmore Cigar Malt" but I call it BS. All the Cigar Malts have now vanished due to silly pc pressure groups. :eusa_doh:
I guess I will have to settle for the Gran Reserva like everyone else. :eusa_doh:
