This liner is in my Twenty Five. I looked trough the thread, but didn't see it in the remaining pics. By the dimensions (about 4 1/2" high, brim 1 7/8") my guess is 60's.

After typing this, I looked for more info behind the sweat and found this transitional keýhole tag which backs up my guess of 60's.

Hello. I just found this great forum. My grandfather's Stetson has been laying around for decades so I have attempted to fix it up. Do any of you have a feel for the vintage of this hat? Thank you in advance and what a great source of information.

The ribbon is new and I am attempting to locate the correct color.

Not certain, but it's a very nice hat! The plastic liner tip says 50s, but there are those on here who can say better than me. It doesn't look like there are any re-order tags under the sweat, nor a size tag - those are usually good hints. As the liner appears pretty faded, it's difficult to tell. Are there stars or a maple leaf in the upper left hand corner of the shield?

Thank you for the reply. He has been dead for 40 years. This was a work hat. It appears the emblem has been enhanced with a marker perhaps.

Very comfortable. The plastic is ripped. I am attempting to purchase a proper ribbon from the company.

Any other thoughts? Thank you. This emblem is different than any on this thread. I have no idea what the white numbered tag under the sweat band signifies.

The white tag is from a cleaners...most of the logo has washed away. It's from the late 50's or 60's...not enough info left to get any closer....

My guess is the white tag with the numbers was put there by a hat shop where the hat was being cleaned. As to the liner, it looks like a regular late 50s/early 60s one that has faded and lost some of the ink printed on it.

It turns out that the leather band was replaced in the 70's which explains the Sunshine Hatters imprint and lack of size tag.

Thank you again for everyone's help.

Here is an Imperial w/Suede Finish that has a date stamped in the sweatband of Feb 16, 1949. The liner is similar to JTL's 2nd post to begin this thread, where the seam is to the side, oil silk tip cover, very similar decoration with American Manufacture in the red ribbon, the hat model is surrounded by the curvy lines, Imperial in blue script and Stetson in bold red.

The date -

The hat -

I will post this one in the other 'dating' threads also.

I've read at least half the posts in this thread (and sadly, most of them don't have pictures anymore due to people posting them on imageshack), and from what I've read so far, it looks like my hat dates from the late 40's to early 50's...does that look right?

These are all I can post right now because I can't resize the pics on my phone and this forum software is whining about them being too large...sweat band is 2" wide...

Here's one more of the liner if I can get it to post...I'm also going to read through the rest of this thread. It's just taking some time to read through everything.

Right. The replies I've read in here have been able to pinpoint a more specific date range for others' hats than "the 50's"...

That's an excellent lid you found for yourself. Your grandfather would love it, I'm sure. I associate that size tag with later 50s, perhaps even 60s. Is there a re-order tag?
